Saint Catherine of Siena School was built in 1949. The Parish is one of the few in Northern Kentucky still practicing “stewardship”. This means that the school is totally supported by the donations of the parish. Because of this, there is a special sense of ownership and the parents and parishioners are actively involved in the education of the children of the parish. The students have a sense of history and belonging and in turn are very devoted to achieving excellence. The school itself consists of 12 classrooms ranging from grades K-8 with the Kindergarten program being half-day. We do offer an afternoon Kinder Care program as well as After School care.

classrm3.jpgCourse Offerings - All learning is based in the doctrines and traditions of the Catholic Church. Besides the core subjects of Religion, Math, Science, English, and Social Studies, students get a wide variety of Specials including Music, Spanish, Library, Computers, and Physical Education. All courses are further expanded by the incorporation of the latest in technology. Students are taught the basics in the use of computers and apply this knowledge to classroom presentations and projects. Teachers incorporate the latest technology to enhance and expand their lessons. All of this insures that students are ready to meet the demands of the 21st century. The combination of tradition and cutting edge technology makes St. Catherine a special place to be and learn. Students are proud of their Catholic traditions while learning the necessary skills to make them morally and educationally ready to go on to the next step. The School Year - As an independent Catholic school, not hindered by buses or public school schedules, we are able to design a schedule that fits the needs of our students and staff. We traditionally start school on the Monday before Labor Day and end the last day of May. Click her to see this year's calendar. The school day begins at 7:55 and ends at 2:40. All students and staff are given a 45 minute lunch/recess period to eat and relax from the pressures of the school day. Every Friday, at 9:00, we have an all-school mass in church. Each week, a different class is responsible for planning and participating in the mass. Students are actively involved in the readings and offertory procession. In addition, throughout the year, we have many special Masses, paraliturgies and religious activities where students are able to show their devotion to God. Students also participate in many activities during and outside of school. Assemblies are held throughout the year on various topics to expand the curriculum. Field trips are taken to many places so students can relate real world experiences to their in-class studies. Cultural enrichment activities are an important part of a well-rounded education, so students are able to go to the theatre, Renaissance festivals, and other activities.

classrm4.jpgSacramental Preparation is an important component of a Catholic School. Student throughout the school learn the importance of the sacraments and are prepared for them when the time comes. Second grade classes participate in First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Eighth graders become adult members of the church through Confirmation. All of the ceremonies and activities are designed to respect the sacraments and give special meaning to the experiences of all involved.
