Frequently Asked Questions

Who can become a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters?

Anyone in the Parish can become a Forester.

Why should I join the Foresters?

C.O.F. has designed a program to assist our local court in promoting social, spiritual or charitable growth. C.O.F. understand there is a cost to conducting these events for our members. Our court receives financial support to offset the cost based on membership and participation. By joining, you increase our opportunities; especially opportunities for our youth.

How is our Forester court financed?

Our local court receives money in several ways to help promote social, spiritual or charitable growth.

§         We receive immediate funds each time a child age 0-21 joins through the Pathways Program; the local court automatically receives $25 to be use on the youth of our parish.

§         Throughout the year, our court will plan and coordinate youth activities. COF will subsidize our court $3 for each Forester youth who attends. We can hold up to two activities a month and receive funding for any child member in attendance.

§         COF pays dues for each member we have. We receive $2.60 paid quarterly for each member we have, both adult and youth.

§         Our court can pick one qualifying fundraiser each year and COF will match up to $1,500 through the Matching Funds Program. When we raise $1,000, COF will match us dollar for dollar. For the next thousand dollars, COF will give us $.50 per dollar. Ultimately, if we raise $2,000 –it is turned into $3,500.

§         Throughout the year, if we have already held our Matching Funds Event, and an emergency or a special need arises, an Emergency Matching Funds Event may be approved.

How do I get involved in planning activities?  Currently there are two ways to get involved. The first is to come to the monthly meetings and take part in our round table discussions. No politics, no formality, just talking and planning activities for the kids. We are still working on setting dates for the summer so please check back for meeting dates. The other way to get involved is to work with one of our age group youth coordinators. This will be an informal process where adults work together on specific activities for their age groups. If you would like to join them please contact the following person(s):

Primary Youth Director (ages preschool to 3rd grade) - Nancy Kelly and Lisa Wormald

Intermediate Youth Director (ages 4th grade to 8th grade) - Lisa Hans

Senior Youth Director (High school age) - Julie Dupont and Sue Seta
