DISCIPLINE PLAN
I have compiled
the following list of classroom rules:
l.
Raise your hand if you want to speak.
2. Listen when
others are speaking.
3. Keep hands
and feet to yourself.
4. Use inside
voices.
5. Put things
back where they belong.
6. Walk quietly
in line.
7. Wait your
turn.
The
consequences for breaking these rules are as follows:
l. First
offense-warning.
2. Second
offense, card is moved from star to smiley face.
3. Third
offense-time out (4 minutes). Card
is moved from smiley face to straight face.
4. Fourth
offense-lose a privilege. Card is
moved from straight face to frown face.
Please look for
the behavior chart inside your child’s folder that will come home every day.
Please initial behavior grade and return the folder the
next day. The key is as follows:
Star
stamp-excellent day
Smiley
face-good day
Straight
face-not so good day
Frown
face-needs improvement-unsatisfactory
At the end of
the week, those children who have a star stamp for every day of the week will
receive a small reward.
A child’s
card will be pulled automatically, without a warning, for any action which
injures or might possibly injury the child or another child, any talking or
playing during Prayer, any backtalking or disrespect towards an adult, or any
extremely mean words towards another.
BOOKBAG
AND FOLDER
Your child’s
vinyl folder will be sent home every day. Please
check your child’s folder every day for a behavior grade and any important
papers that are sent home. The
behavior grade should be initialed on a daily basis.
Please remove any papers, excluding the behavior calendar, daily.
Those pieces of work that need to be returned will say so on the top of
the pages. All others are yours to
keep. Please clean out your
child’s folder each day. YOUR
CHILD NEEDS TO BRING THE BOOK BAG AND FOLDER TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!
CLASSROOM
NEWS BULLETIN
Every week, (usually on Monday), I
will send home a letter containing information about classroom procedures and
activities for the week. The letter will also contain information about special events
and field trips. This letter will
be sent home in your child’s folder. Any
bulletins from the office will also be placed in this folder.
A special silver folder from the office is sent home every Friday and is
returned on Monday.
PARENT-TEACHER
CONFERENCES ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
The
parent-teacher conference provides for two-way communication.
It helps both the parent and teacher arrive at a better understanding of
the child’s strengths, needs, and progress (academically, socially,
emotionally, and physically). If
you desire a conference, please contact the school or send a note in your
child’s folder and a conference time will be scheduled.
The first 9 weeks conferences are mandatory for all kindergarten parents.
TOYS AND CANDY
In general,
children are NOT to bring toys to school except for those cases in which the toy
is part of instruction (such as for Show and Tell, a unit on toys, etc.)
I will notify you of such special events in my newsletter. Candy is allowed only at parties. Gum is not permitted.
ATTENDANCE
At all levels,
regular attendance is necessary if the child is to make optimal progress.
A child who has symptoms of illness should not be sent to school where
they may expose the class or endanger their own health.
Regardless of the cause of absence, a written explanation would be
appreciated. Please send this
explanation to school the day your child returns. Please read the handbook regarding school regulation towards
tardies.
NOTES FROM HOME
Often it is
necessary to send a note to school to notify me of changes in transportation,
early check-out, reasons why your child may behave differently, or just to ask
me a question. Children sometime forget to give these notes to me, or they
are misplaced somewhere at the bottom of the book bag. Please make certain that all notes are placed in your
child’s folder.
I do NOT check book bags!
I will answer all notes that day, and also place these notes in your
child’s folder. I cannot check e-mail messages until the end of the day, as
all my time is spent with the children during the school day.
Please keep
these policies in a special place for later reference.
