Journals:  Journals will go home on Friday for the parents to read and review with your child.  Please write a note or a few words of praise to them on their journals.  Thanks!!

Mrs. Kelly will give out the Religion homework on Tuesdays and it will be due on Wednesday of each week.

I will try to stick as close as possible to the lesson plans; however, a lot depends on how the students are doing with the material. If things are progressing really well we may get to more than I have on the weekly plan or less than on the plan if something unexpected comes up or the students need additional time with the material.

Please dress your child in easy on/off clothes on Gym days. i.e. Polo shirts, shorts or pants.  Thanks!

Class Pet:  Every weekend George will get to go home with a student.  Please have your child record what they do with George while he visits with your family in the journal. (A sentence or two for beginning writers is fine.  Please limit entries to one page.) Please read the book and discuss it with your child.(Basic questions: Who, did what, when, where, and why.  Also, don’t forget to discuss what the problem was in the story and how it was solved!)

Spelling - We will have a test over the Spelling words every Friday.  It’s a good idea to have your child take a practice written test over the words the night before the test.  If we do not have school on Friday the test will be given on Thursday.  Remember to check the homework sheet for the Spelling website if your child needs or wants more spelling word practice.

SPELLING WORDS ARE COPIED ON ORANGE CARDSTOCK PAPER. PLEASE CUT THE WORDS APART, AND PUNCH A HOLE IN THE TOP CORNER OF EACH CARD. PLACE THE CARDS ON THE METAL RING AND PUT THE CARDS IN THEIR ZIPPERED PENCIL POUCH LOCATED IN THEIR BINDER. STUDENTS NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SPELL AND READ THESE WORDS. SPELLING TESTS ARE GIVEN ON FRIDAYS. KEEP THEIR WORDS ON THE RING IN THE ZIPPERED PENCIL POUCH LOCATED IN THE STUDENT BINDER. STUDENTS WILL WORK WITH THE WORDS IN CLASS AS WELL AND WILL NEED THEIR RING EACH DAY FOR SCHOOL.

ONCE A WORD HAS BEEN MASTERED IT WILL HAVE A CHECK IN THE CORNER.  PLEASE REMOVE THE CARD FROM THE RING ONCE IT HAS BEEN CHECKED OFF. KEEP THE WORDS IN A BOX AT HOME FOR A ONCE A WEEK REVIEW. STUDENTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWING ALL THE WORDS COVERED

Reading:

Reading words are copied on purple cardstock.  Please cut the words apart and punch a hole in the top corner of each card. Place the cards on the metal ring.  Place the ring in the zippered pouch in their binder.  Once they are checked off remove them from the ring.  Students will need to know how to read these words but do not need to know how to spell them.

King/Queen:  If your child has been picked to be king/queen there will be a paper in their binder to inform you of what they can bring to share etc. during their special week
