SPECIAL
INSTRUCTIONS:
Food Program-Be Concerned is an agency that will
help families in need. Families need to sign up for assistance to take part in
the program. The Food Program helps more then 1200 families each month with food
and toiletries. The families come in by appointment only. The size of the family
will determine how much food they are given. They receive food to help them get
through the month but not enough to feed the family all month. It is just to
help when the groceries at home run out.
Clothing Store – customers have the opportunity to
shop year-round for gently used clothing and accessories. Special effort is made
to provide children with school supplies and winter coats. More than 100,000
items are distributed annually, with most priced at just 50 cents. The Clothing
store is open to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 to 12:30 pm.
The clothing sold is all items that are donated.
Houseware Store – Customers have the opportunity
to shop year-round for used household items such as dishes, small appliances and
things like that. These items all are donated and checked by volunteers and
repaired if needed before they are sold at very low prices.
Fan Club – Over 800 new 20 inch box fans are
purchased each year by the Fan Club donors and distributed to low-income
households in exchange for a small fee. (Last year each fan cost $6 which is
much cheaper then the store would sell it for.)
Easter Program – Each year, schools, churches and
businesses donate more than 1000 Easter baskets for children, 0-17 years of age.
Also collected at this time is additional cleaning, health and hygiene products
for families who are in our Food Program. These special items are donated when
they come for their monthly food appointment.
Christmas Program – The Christmas Store thrives as one of the most rewarding programs for customers, staff, and volunteers. More then 1200 low-income families participate each year. No charge is required for holiday food, grocery items and health and hygiene products distributed through this program. The families will receive a turkey and all the trimmings for Christmas dinner. They will also have Christmas decorations that people have donated. These are also distributed to the needy families.
