LITURGY AND SPIRITUAL LIFE
COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 12TH, 2011
I. Call to order-Fr. Stef Bankemper, Mary Brown, Denise Dirkes, Molly Fassler, Kim Lampe, Judy Leick, Mary Ann Metzner, Alison Schwalbach
II. Prayer-Prayer was led by Mary Ann Metzner
III. Educational Component-pages 20-45.
IV. Liturgy
A. Evaluation of Past Liturgies
Pro-Life Mass- Lower attendance than usual this year. Fr. Stef announced that Linda Schuchter will be forming a pro life committee for the parish, which should help encourage attendance.
B. Future Liturgies
1. New Wording in Roman Missal- We have ordered 500 pew cards and 400
books from the Chancery Office.
2. All Souls Mass and Reception, November 2nd-Letters have been mailed
to families of the deceased. Mary Brown will take care of table with
candles, etc.
3. Thanksgiving Mass- Judy Leick will take care of delivering goods to St.
Bernard’s food pantry.
4. Penance Service- No date has been announced.
5. Lessons and Carols, program and reception- The Children’s Choir will
begin rehearsals next week. A decision was made to start this event at
7:30 p. m. in order to not disrupt Mass as people arrive for the concert.
6. Rite of Acceptance- This will be held on November 27th at the 9:00 Mass.
6. Advent
a. Booklet- Fr. Stef has written the meditations and forwarded them to
Mary Brown and Caroline Kaelin. A few other parishes have
expressed interest in using the booklet. Fr. Stef will find out if this is
feasible.
b. Wreath- The committee discussed how to better position the
wreath in the sanctuary. Judy Leick will find out if the Cub Scouts
will be selling wreath kits. Alison Schwalbach and Kim Lampe will
call new members for entrance procession with candles.
c. Jesse tree- Maria Bozeman is working on this.
d. Liturgy of the Hours, Evening prayer- Fr. Stef suggested inviting the
pastors of the other Fr. Thomas churches to offer a reflection. The
committee enthusiastically agreed.

Saturday, Dec. 24- regular morning Mass at 8:00 a. m.*
4:30 p. m.
Midnight
Sunday, Dec. 25- 10:00 a. m.
Saturday, Dec. 31- 4:30 p. m.
Sunday, Jan. 1- 9:00 and 11:30 a. m.
*Christmas set up will follow this Mass. A notice requesting help will
be put in the bulletin as this worked well last year.
V. Spiritual Life-Lenten Pilgrimage- Planning will begin soon.

1. Holy Cards- Samples were shown. Fonts were discussed.
2. Parish Night- This year our parish will use the Catholicism series by
Fr. Barron. There are 10 sessions in this highly acclaimed series.
