LITURGY AND SPIRITUAL LIFE

COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

November 9^th, 2011  

Present: Fr. Stef Bankemper, Mary Brown, Mary Buten, Molly Fassler, Kim Lampe, Mary Ann Metzner, Alison Schwalbach    

I.  Call to order  

II. Prayer was led by Mary Buten.  

III. Educational component: At the Supper of the Lamb by Paul Turner. We discussed up to page 68. Next time we will pick up at page 33 to the end of that chapter.

IV. Liturgy  

          A. Evaluation of Past Liturgies

                                1. All Saints-

                          2. All Souls- Having the choir from Holy Cross made this Mass even more lovely.

                B. Future Liturgies

                   1. Thanksgiving Mass, St. Bernard’s donations-An announcement will be put in the bulletin. Checks are also                         appreciated. Judy Leick will take care of delivering donated goods.

                   2. Advent

                             a. booklet- The booklet is on its way to the printer.

                             b. environment, Advent wreath-The ambo will be moved over so that the wreath is better able to be                                    seen. Wreaths outside will have purple bows, which will then be exchanged for red bows for                                   Christmas.

                             c. Jesse tree- Maria Bozeman is working on this.

                             d. Advent wreath sales-An announcement will appear in the bulletin about Advent wreaths and door                                  wreaths available from the Boy Scouts.

                             e. Advent wreath candles- Fr. Stef needs a list of who will carry up the Advent candles. Kim and                                 Alison will call new parishioners to ask for volunteers.

                             f. Liturgy of the Hours Evening Prayer, Dec 17^th- 23^rd- Karen Little will be contacted about possibly                                 working on a flier for this evening of prayer.

                   3. Advent Lessons and Carols, program and reception, Dec 1^st- This will begin at 7:30. Our committee will                        provide food for the reception. Alison will help organize this.

                   4. Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary- Masses will be at 8:00 a. m. and 7:00 p. m. Kim will                        schedule servers.

                   5. Penance Service, St. Joseph, Cold Springs- This will be Monday, Nov. 28^th at 7:00 p. m.

                   6. Trees and environment for Christmas- Paul Stuempel would like to deliver the 10 trees early. A location to                        store them was discussed.

                   7. Children’s Liturgy of the Word- This will happen on December 11^th .

                   8. Baptism of the Lord- Monday, January 9^th. Mass will be at 8:00 and Denise will play. We will take down                        Christmas environment after Mass.

IV. Spiritual Life

                   Lenten Pilgrimage- A suggestion was made to consider Old Saint Mary’s in downtown Cincinnati as a                     possible destination.  

V. Business

                   A. Approval of Minutes- Minute were approved.

                   B. Old Business/New Business- Father is working with the Finance Council to consider more funding for                        musicians. The committee expressed support for this decision.

                             1. Holy Cards- Next meeting.

                             2. Children’s choir- They are meeting and practicing.
