The Parish
Pastoral Council serves as the vehicle for
achieving full parish participation in planning
and monitoring pastoral activity in the parish.
It is a consultative and advisory body to
the pastor and is governed by the directives
established by the bishop of the diocese.
This group, with the approval of the
pastor, makes final decisions concerning the
parish function and activities.
The
council is composed of 12 parishioners plus the
pastor. Members
represent the entire parish population rather than
distinct groups within the parish.
Each year four members are discerned for a
term of three years, thus allowing for significant
continuity on the council from year-to-year.
In order for the council to remain
connected to the parish community, members of the
pastoral council are appointed on a rotating basis
to attend the meetings of all of the other major
parish organizations.
