PARISH
CENSUS If
you have not yet verified your registration information, you can come to the
parish office during the week to check your information.
The office is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Those who do this will not get a home visit from our census workers.
Also, if you are willing to be a census taker, we still need your help.
Please contact Ann Ulbricht at 441-8159 to sign up.
We will be holding 2 training sessions here for the workers on Monday,
October 3rd and Wednesday, October 12th at 7:00 p.m.
Please prayerfully consider volunteering for this, as many workers are
needed to complete this task.
FR.
IAN MCDOLE As
many of you know, Fr. Ian has been celebrating mass here since the summer.
However, he is returning to Rome to continue his studies, so his last
mass here will be on Saturday, October 1st at 8:00 a.m.
This means that the last Monday morning mass will be tomorrow, September
26th. Please keep Fr. Ian
in your prayers as he travels to Rome.
WE
WELCOME to
our parish family through baptism: Luke
Anderson Kramer, son of Drew and Anita. May
this day be for him the beginning of a life filled with God's mercy, grace and
love, and a future blessed with happiness and hope.
PARISH
FEST 2011 will
be held TODAY, Sunday, September 25th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Grilled
items, smoked pork and beverages will be provided, just bring a side dish to
share. There will be games, fun and
music for all ages, so be sure to come and share an evening with your fellow
parishioners!
WELCOME OUR
Bus
to Pro-Life Mass Pray
for the sanctity of life on Tuesday,
October 4th at the Pro-Life mass at the Cathedral. With bus
transportation from St. Catherine to the Cathedral, you don’t have to worry
about parking. The bus will leave the St Catherine parking lot promptly at
6:15pm. Call the parish office, 441-1352, and get your reservation in
quickly so we know what size bus to reserve. This year we will have
pro-lifers from St. Philip also joining us on the bus. It will be a great
chance to meet and unite with other pro-life supporters and prayer warriors. We
will have Benediction at 5:45 p.m. that day, so that you will have plenty of
time to attend and still get on the bus.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
This program will be starting again on Sunday, October 9th
at the 9:00 a.m. mass. It is
open to children kindergarten – 5th grade and is held on the 2nd
and 4th Sundays of the month during the 9:00 am mass.
The children are taken to McCrystal hall and read the readings and Gospel
from the children’s lectionary and participate in a guided reflection about
the Gospel.
UPCOMING
PRAISE AND WORSHIP SPEAKER Do
you believe in modern-day miracles? Deacon Jack Sullivan of Boston does
because he was healed on August 15, 2001 from a crippling spinal disorder
through the intercession of Cardinal Newman. This miraculous healing led to the
beautification of Cardinal Newman on September 19, 2010. Deacon Jack will tell
the story of this amazing miracle on Sunday, October 16th, 7:00PM
@ St. Catherine of Siena church in Ft. Thomas, KY. He will follow the talk with
a healing service and a blessing with Newman’s relic. No tickets needed, a
free-will offering will be taken. For details call 441-3438.
ROCKTOBERFEST
to
be held at St. Barbara Parish Friday, September 30th from 6pm –

PREGNANCY CENTER The
members of the Campbell County Life Teen youth group are collecting new and/or
gently used baby items for CareNet pregnancy center. Donations can be dropped
off at the parish office or in the back of church.
Items being collected are diapers, baby and maternity clothes, bottles,
car seats, strollers, anything a new mother would need for her baby.

contact Life Teen member Noah Shaefer at 781-8453.
YOUTH
2000 IS COMING SOON! The
annual diocesan retreat will be held October
28th – 30th at Notre Dame Academy.
This is the 7th annual Eucharistic retreat for young men and
women of the diocese, featuring the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. The
weekend is packed with great live music, dynamic talks, reverent prayer, and
real fun! You can make it possible
for your teen to draw closer to Christ and get excited about being Catholic.
Full details and registration forms can be found at www.nkyouth.com.
This is not an overnight and minors must have a chaperone.
One VIRTUS-certified adult can take up to seven minors.
Two adults may register as co-chaperones, splitting hours/cost.
If you can help chaperone some of our parish teens, or if your child is
in need of a chaperone, please contact Teresa at 441-1352 or 781-8453.

IMPLEMENTATION
Alleluia
“Then
I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of
many
waters and like the sound of mighty thunderpeals, crying, ‘Alleluia’”
(Revelation
19:6).
Alleluia means “praise the Lord.” It is a cry of jubilation, the sound of
pure,
undiluted
joy. We sing Alleluia to welcome and greet Christ, the Bridegroom-King,
present
in the proclamation of the holy Gospel. Alleluia says, “We recognize you, O
Christ,
and welcome you with inexpressible gladness.” The last syllable of Alleluia
— ia
—
is derived from the Hebrew Yahweh. In the Church’s ancient tradition of
liturgical
chant,
this last syllable becomes a river of ecstatic sound, a prolonged cry that
climbs
above
the zone of words.
The
Alleluia is sung in every season other than Lent. The return of the Alleluia at
the
Easter Vigil is a solemn and glorious moment. Three times it is intoned by the
priest
and
repeated by the people. At other times the Alleluia is intoned by the cantor and
repeated
by the whole congregation. The cantor sings a short verse that sums up the
Gospel
of the day. Then, as the Book of the Gospel arrives at the ambo, the people
acclaim
Christ with a final Alleluia and stand ready to hear his voice.
