IN OUR PARISH

WE NEED YOU!!   Our summer festival, which is the second of only two major fundraisers for our parish, is just a week away and we are still in need of volunteers to help. This is a great chance to help your parish while also having fun!  If you haven’t signed up to work a shift but would like to, please contact Jack Rose at 781-5174 or the Parish office at 441-1352.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   will be meeting next Sunday, June 12th, in McCrystal Hall at 12:30 p.m.  Stop by for some food, friends, fun and fellowship!

OUR SUMMER VISITOR    Once again, we are blessed to have a seminarian with us for the summer.  Michael Black will be living at the rectory for the next few months and will be helping in the parish office on Fridays.  Please be sure to introduce yourself to him when you see him.  Michael is from El Paso, Texas and will be entering St. Vincent Seminary in the fall.  If you would like the chance to get to know him better and want to have him over for dinner, please call the parish office to set a date.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL    Vacation Bible School will be held August 1st - 5th from 9:00a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Registration forms are now available in the Parish Office and in the back of church. Please send in to Parish Office by July 15th.   Also, we are in need of adult volunteers & student volunteers (grades 7-12) to help with VBS.  If you or your child is able to help, please e-mail Keith Morgeson at kmorgeson@stcatherineofsiena.org. We look forward to a great time this summer at VBS!

THANK YOU KROGER SHOPPERS!   We received a check for $875.37 from Kroger, which represents 4% of what was reloaded on the Kroger cards from St. Catherine in the last 4 weeks.  This is money that the parish makes just by people paying for their groceries using a Kroger card from our Scrip program.  If you shop at Kroger and are not using a Kroger card, please consider getting one from the person selling scrip after mass or from the parish office.  This is an easy fundraiser for our parish with no out of pocket expense for anyone.

CCD TEACHERS: needed for the 2011-2012 school year. The time for discernment is now. We are in search of teachers for the 4th and 6th grade.  Interested persons must be active in their faith and ready to answer the call. The diocese requires applicants to be, or to become, Virtus trained and willing to begin work on teaching certification for religious education teachers. Contact Keith Morgeson at kmorgeson@stcatherineofsiena.org with your willingness to serve in this ministry.

RAT RACES    One of the most exciting events planned for Saturday, June 11th of the St. Catherine Summer Fest is THE RAT RACES!!!! (well, actually mice races)   In order for this event to be successful, we need families to sponsor mice.  The mice will cost $20 for one or $35 for two.  We will have 9 races, 10 mice per race.  Simply send the names you’d like used for your sponsored mice, along with payment to the school office, church office or send via mail to Rob Hans, 34 Carrington Pt., Fort Thomas, KY 41075.  Sponsorships for the mice are going fast so names and payment should be returned as soon as possible, but no later than Wednesday, June 8th.  Please contact Rob at 441-5430 or rlhans@fuse.net if you have any questions.

SILENT AUCTION    We are in need of items for the silent auction booth.  Remember, no donation is too big or too small – whatever is donated will be greatly appreciated and put to good use!  Also, the best-selling items are often goods or services that are unique or that folks wouldn’t normally buy for themselves!  If you would like to donate, or would like to help with this year’s booth, please call:  Mark Marron at (513)266-1603 or email at m@fuse.net.

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR THE UPCOMING CHANGE IN THE ROMAN MISSAL   Each week there will be an article relating to the upcoming changes in the Roman Missal.  (Some of them may be run more than once and they may not follow the Order of Mass.

The Prayer Over the Offerings

“I appeal to you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your

bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship”

(Romans 12:1). To conclude the Preparation of the Gifts, the priest appeals to the

assembly: “Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours be acceptable to God,

the almighty Father.” Called to pray, the people stand and make their response, holding

themselves in readiness for the Mystery about to unfold. The Mass engages not the priest

alone, nor the people apart from the priest, but the people offering with the priest and

through his ministry. “The celebration of the Eucharist is an action of the whole Church,

and in it each one should carry out solely but completely that which pertains to him or

her, in virtue of the rank of each within the People of God” (GIRM, art. 5).

The Prayer Over the Offerings follows. It asks God to receive the offerings set

before him and to give us, in exchange, the surpassing gift of himself. The faithful,

uniting themselves to this prayer, make it their own by sealing it with the acclamation,

Amen.
