CCD TEACHERS: needed for the 2011-2012 school year.
The time for discernment is now. We are in search of teachers for the 4th
and co-teachers for the 5th & 6th grades.
Interested persons must be active in their faith and ready to answer the
call. The diocese requires applicants to be, or to become, Virtus trained and
willing to begin work on teaching certification for religious education
teachers. Contact Keith Morgeson at kmorgeson@stcatherineofsiena.org
with your willingness to serve in this ministry.
DISCERNMENT
for members of the
Parish Pastoral Council and the Board of Catholic Education begins this weekend.
As representative of the entire parish population, the Pastoral Council (PPC)
acts as a consultative and advisory body to the pastor in making decisions for
the benefit of the parish community. The Board of Catholic Education (BOCE)
assists the pastor in promoting spiritual formation and Catholic education
programs for all age groups. Members of each board are discerned through prayer
and sacrifice and serve for a three year term. Please read the parish
guidebook and directory for more details. At this time we are asking
parishioners to prayerfully consider their own response to serve one of these
committees. Boxes with paper are at the side entrances to the church.
Please volunteer yourself or suggest another parishioner who would be
representative of our parish community. Most importantly, pray for
guidance from the Holy Spirit in our discernment process.
HAVE YOU SCHEDULED YOUR APPOINTMENT
YET? Olan
Mills will be here beginning this Wednesday,
May 11th to photograph parishioners for our parish pictorial
directory. If you haven’t already
done so, you can schedule your photography session by going to https://signup.olanmills.com/familyinfo.aspx?chcontract=60596.
If you do not have internet access, please call Olan Mills at
(800)866-2263 and they will help you schedule your appointment.
Father Stef asks that all families please be photographed, as a
pictorial directory is a great way for all parishioners to get to know each
other.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL AGE YOUTH
The Campbell County Life Teen Youth Group meets every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. -
8:00 p.m. in the St. Philip Parish Center and is open to all high school age
youth from any parish. This is a great opportunity for teens to meet
people from different schools/parishes and to grow in their faith, all while
having a great time! The meetings include praise and worship, games,
talks, small group discussions, social time and food!! On the second
Thursday of the month, we start out in church with mass and then move on to the
parish center for food and social time. The only thing we are missing is
you - so make plans to attend this Thursday!
IMPLEMENTATION
Holy,
Holy, Holy!
“Holy,
Holy, Holy, Lord, God of mighty hosts!” One can almost hear the rush of
angels’
wings in the Sanctus, a hymn of adoration belonging to the Eucharistic
Prayer
itself.
The biblical sources of the Sanctus are in the book of the Prophet Isaiah
and the
Gospel
of Saint Matthew; thus does it bring together the Old and New Testaments in a
single
song. “I saw the Lord,” says Isaiah, “sitting upon a throne high and
lifted up; and
his
train filled the temple” (Isaiah 6:1). Surrounding the Lord, the prophet saw
Seraphim,
angels
of fire calling out, “Holy, Holy, Holy!” The second part of the Sanctus echoes
the
cry
of the children of Jerusalem waving palm branches before Christ the true King:
“Blessed
is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” (Mt 21:9).
The
Sanctus expresses what lies at the heart of the Christian experience of
God.
The
thrice-holy God adored by the angels is, at the same time, the humble
self-emptying
God
who in the Eucharist, gives us his Body and Blood. Like
the Preface that leads into
It,
the Sanctus cries out to be sung. The Roman Missal provides a simple
melody, easily
learned,
and suited to its place within the Eucharistic Prayer.
