the Lord bless their lives with love, health and happiness.
OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY

Charles. Please keep her and her
family in your prayers.
UPCOMING
PRAISE AND WORSHIP SPEAKER Do
you believe in modern-day miracles? Deacon Jack Sullivan of Boston does
because he was healed on August 15, 2001 from a crippling spinal disorder
through the intercession of Cardinal Newman. This miraculous healing led to the
beautification of Cardinal Newman on September 19, 2010. Deacon Jack will tell
the story of this amazing miracle tonight, Sunday, October 16th,
7:00PM @ St. Catherine of Siena church in Ft. Thomas, KY. He will follow the
talk with a healing service and a blessing with Newman’s relic. No tickets
needed, a free-will offering will be taken. For details call 441-3438.
Parish
Night Begins Wednesday October 19th We
are very excited to announce that his year’s Parish Night Program will be the
showing of Father Barron’s “Catholicism”.
This is a ten part video series that takes the viewer around the Catholic
world and explores the Church as a culture through its teachings, art, music,
and architecture and most importantly the lives it shaped.
Father Barron lays out the Catholic proposal in a visually stunning and
engaging series of presentations that invites everyone into the heart of the
faith, which is friendship with Jesus Christ.
Father Stef will facilitate each viewing with an open discussion and a
question and answer session. We know
you won’t be disappointed so please plan on attending this year’s Parish
Night Program. Parish Night sessions
begin immediately following 6:30 Mass.
FLU

OPPORTUNITY
TO HELP OTHERS Our parish
members, Julie DuPont, Mary Scott, Karen Little, and Teena Devoto are
partnering with Welcome House of Northern Kentucky in a project called “The
Garden Shoppe”. They have opened a store to benefit
single-parent, lower income families who live at the Gardens at Greenup
Apartments in Covington. They are looking for personal care items, cleaning
supplies, home goods, clothing, shoes, toys, books and other miscellaneous
items. Your new or gently-used individual donations can be delivered to one of
them, or pick up is available upon request. In addition, your assistance with
connections to gain financial donations is also greatly needed and very much
appreciated. All donors will be provided with a donation receipt for tax
purposes. For additional information, please contact Julie DuPont at jdupont9@insightbb.com or 859-653-3336.
ATTENTION
MEN OF THE PARISH The
men’s retreat will be held November 4th – 6th at
Marydale, featuring Fr. Giles Pater, the theme will be “Sing a New Song to the

COLLECTION
FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR
The Little Sisters of the Poor will be collecting donations following
all masses next weekend for the support of their work among the elderly poor.
The Little Sisters operate the St. Paul’s Archbishop Leibold Home
located in Clifton. For over 143
years the sisters have been caring for the needy elderly from Cincinnati,
Kentucky and Dayton, providing them with a home, nursing care and above all,
love and respect. They celebrated
the canonization of their Mother Foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan on October 11,
2009. In order to maintain their
home of 95 residents, the sisters go out daily to solicit for their needs.
Any help you may be able to give them will be deeply appreciated.
PRO-LIFE
We will continue to solicit names after all masses during the month
of October for the Bishop’s “Many
Faces of Pro Life Newspaper Ad”. Please sign-up outside church after mass.
We still need help at the doors for the last two weekends of the month.
If you can help, please call Linda Schuchter at 441-1220.
Changes in the Mass: Why? How?
Mgsr. Bill Cleves will give a presentation at St. Mary Church,
Alexandria, on Monday, October 24th,
from 7:00 – 8:30 on the why and how of the upcoming Mass changes. You
are most welcome to attend.

IMPLEMENTATION
Holy
Communion, Part I
“May
receiving your Body and Blood, Lord Jesus Christ, not bring me to
judgment
or condemnation, but through your loving mercy let it be my protection in mind
and
body, and a healing remedy.” Saying quietly this prayer or another one found
in the
Roman
Missal the priest prepares to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. At the same
time
the faithful prepare for Holy Communion in the silence of their hearts.
Lifting the
Eucharistic Bread above the chalice, the priest invites the faithful to
look
upon the Lamb of God and to receive in Holy Communion a foretaste of the
“Supper
of
the Lamb” (Revelation 19:9) made ready for the blessed in heaven. “It is
most
desirable
that the faithful, just as the priest himself is bound to do, receive the
Lord’s
Body
from hosts consecrated at the same Mass and that, in the circumstances when it
is
permitted,
they partake of the chalice” (GIRM, art. 85).
The Communion
chant begins while the priest is receiving the Sacrament. Like
the
Entrance and Offertory chants, it is, according to tradition, an antiphon —
often
drawn
from the gospel of the day — and a psalm chosen to resonate with it.
