LADIES OF THE PARISH - SAVE THE DATE!   Mark your calendars for the 7th Annual Women's Dinner to be held on November 13th at 7:00 pm . You don't want to miss it! More details coming soon.

CAFETERIA WORKERS NEEDED   This school year, we have a serious lack of workers for the cafeteria.  If you are interested in working in the cafeteria this school year, please call Judy Leick at 781-3890.  Report time is 10:45 and depending on whether you stay for lunch you can be finished by 12:30 .  The kids love seeing a familiar face, (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle) during lunch. You only have to work once a month, unless of course, you would like to work more.  Even if you don’t have a relative in the school, as long as you are Virtus trained, you are welcome to volunteer!

ST. BERNARD PANTRY   For the month of September, we will be collecting peanut butter & jelly.  Donations can be dropped off to church, the parish office or the school office.

WHAT IS RCIA?   The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the sacramental formation process that prepares a person to become a member of the Roman Catholic Church.  Conversion is at the heart of the process.  The initiation of new members can only take place within the context of a community of believers.  The initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptized.    How Can Parish Members Become Involved in the RCIA Process?  One of the most essential parts of the formation process is the identification of candidates.  This is one instance where members of our faith community play a vital role.  Is there someone in your life who has expressed an interest in knowing more about our faith?  Do you have a spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or anyone who has spoken with you about this subject?  Ninety percent of our candidates come from referrals of parish members.  If you have someone in your life that would like to consider the possibility of becoming a Catholic, please call or have the potential candidate call the parish office (441-1352), or Paul Meisenhelder (491-9455).  The date for classes to begin is Thursday, September 9th, at 7:00 p.m. in the room next to the school library.  Please reach out to potential candidates and encourage them to make the call or volunteer to do so for them.

WHY CAN'T CATHOLICS BE MASONS?  John Salza, a former 32nd degree Mason, will answer that question and more during his talk on Sunday, October 3rd at 6:30p.m.in church. John is a well published and credentialed Catholic apologist who is a frequent guest on Catholic radio and TV including: EWTN, Catholic Answers Live, Kresta in the Afternoon, and Sacred Heart Radio. Freemasonry is not a social fraternity as many perceive but a secret society whose principles are contrary to key truths of Christianity. Don't miss what John Salza discovered behind the Lodge door.  Tickets are five dollars at the door. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Call Sharon 441-1069 or Terri 441-3438 for more information.

DOMESTIC NEEDS COMBINED COLLECTION   May God bless you for your stewardship.  Last weekend, members of our parish donated $1271.00 to support the ministries of six Catholic organizations that are combined into our one Diocesan Domestic Needs Collection.  Your gifts will fund media programming and projects that promote Gospel values, help college students’ dreams come true by providing tuition assistance, give a hand up to those living in poverty, assist Catholics in remote and poor mission territories to live out their faith under difficult circumstances, and fund evangelization programs that otherwise may be in danger of disappearing among the African American, American Indian, Eskimo and Aleute communities within the United States.  If you have not made your gift to Strengthen Your Church at Home, please do so today or next weekend.  Use the envelope you received in the mail or the one included in your parish envelopes.  Make your check payable to the Domestic Needs Collection.
