IN OUR PARISH

TO ALL PARISHIONERS   Enclosed with this bulletin is the Statement of Income and Expenses for the fiscal year that just ended ( 30 June 2010 ).  Along with it we have included information from the two years prior as comparison, some explanatory notes from Mary, and the approved budget for this fiscal year.  (Just as a reminder, the fiscal year is identified by the ending date; so, for instance, “ 6/30/08 ” means the fiscal year that ran from 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008 .)  We have also included a sheet with “pie charts” that show how our money comes in and goes out, and graphs that show our month-to-month income and expenses.  I encourage you to peruse these sheets and familiarize yourselves with our finances.  If you have any questions, please contact Mary Brzinski or someone on the Finance Committee.

Just as an aside, some people have asked why we show our income the way we do in the bulletin, varying from month to month.  The graph we have included in this bulletin may make that clear.  There are two ways to budget, what accountants call a “straight-line” system, which takes the year’s budget and divides it into twelve equal installments; and what might be called a “trend budget”, which, from historical data, tries to project an actual budget, in other words, how much money will come in each month.  We use this “trend” method.  We feel it helps us more accurately project our year’s income and expenses.

PLEASE NOTE    There will be no confessions on Tuesday, August 3rd.  However, we will still have Exposition of the Eucharist and Benediction.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   will be having their monthly meeting next Sunday, August 8th, at 12:30 p.m. in McCrystal Hall.  Be sure to stop by for some food, fun and friendship!

ST CATHERINE MEN'S GROUP    All men of the parish 21 and older are invited to our next meeting on Monday, August 2nd at 8:00 pm in McCrystal Hall. We'll be working on plans for our 7th Annual Women's Dinner in November (more information to follow). There is no speaker this meeting, but maybe we can convince Jon Guth to inspire us with a little music to go along with the refreshments, snacks, and camaraderie. In place of split the pot, we'll be raffling two Reds Club Seat tickets.
