IN OUR PARISH

TALE OF THREE PRIESTS THROUGH SONG AND SHARING   Today, March 28th, at 7:00 pm in church, three priests will share the journeys of their priesthood as we celebrate this "Year For Priests" dedicated by our Holy Father. Join Fr. Stef Bankemper (opera), Fr. Norman Fischer (rapper and youth minister) and Fr. Raymond Guiao (singer/composer whose voice disorder ended his voice career in his vocation) as they share their personal joys and sufferings of priesthood.

PLEASE NOTE   There will not be confessions on Tuesday, March 30th due to the Chrism Mass. Also on that day, the time of Benediction has been changed to 5:00 p.m.

BUS TO CATHEDRAL FOR CHRISM MASS, MARCH 30th   The Chrism Mass is celebrated once a year at the Cathedral.  All of the faithful of the diocese are encouraged to attend and celebrate this Mass with the bishop and the priests of the diocese.  During the Mass the bishop will consecrate all the oils that will be used in the diocese throughout the year - the Oil of the Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick and the Sacred Chrism. This is also the Mass at which the priests of the diocese renew their ordination promises.  A bus will be provided to take everyone to the Cathedral for the Mass.   It will leave the St. Catherine parking lot at 6:00 pm , March 30th and will return after the Mass.   Please call the parish office, at 441-1352 to reserve your seat on the bus.

HOLY THURSDAY ADORATION    Immediately following the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, we will begin Eucharistic Adoration until midnight in McCrystal Hall.  If you would like to sign up for a time of adoration, please contact Kim Lampe at 441-9955.

DIVINE MERCY      The Divine Mercy Chaplets and Novena are the devotional fruits born out of the Divine Mercy revelations given to St. Faustina from our Lord. We are inviting you to join in the Divine Mercy Novena starting on Good Friday after the stations and continuing everyday following daily mass until Divine Mercy Sunday on April 11th  (except for Easter Sunday which will be said independently). This is a very short devotional (5-8 minutes), pamphlets will be available.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO HELP!!!   There are still bags for the Lenten Service Project in the back of church. If every family would take one we would have all of them filled. If you’ve already filled one bag, take another one if you are able. The items needed are listed on the bags.  Just purchase the items and return the bags filled and labeled before Good Friday when they will be distributed.

LITTLE WHITE BOOKS   for the Easter season will be available in the back of church next weekend.

TO THE BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE I want to extend my appreciation to all the workers who give their time making the receptions for the bereaved families so successful and to all of the volunteers who give of their talent in providing the food for the families. The existence of the Bereavement Committee is dependent on all of you. The families we help always extend their appreciation for your generosity, thoughtfulness and support during their difficult time.  They are so thankful that we can ease their load at this time.   God bless you, Carol Adams

BULLETIN BOARD APPROVAL   The bulletin boards at both entrances of church are used to inform parishioners of upcoming events, convey important information, etc. If you would like something put on the bulletin board, it must be approved by Fr. Stef.  Please do not post anything without first checking with the Parish Office for approval.

CCD TEACHERS: needed for the 2010-2011 school year. The time for discernment is now. We are in search of a third and eighth grade teacher. Interested persons must be active in their faith and ready to answer the call. Diocese requires applicants to be, or to become, Virtus trained and willing to begin work on teaching certification for religious education teachers. Contact David Kohrs at 859-653-4398 or kohrssd@fuse.net with your willingness to serve in this ministry.

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, April 5th, 6th, & 7th.   Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport , preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

SOFTBALL PLAYERS NEEDED   The St Catherine's Team #1 is looking for additional players.  This men's team plays at the Fort on Monday nights throughout the summer and is looking for fellow parishioners to join us.  For more information please contact Terry Nolan at tnolan14@fuse.net or Chuck Peters at 291-7127.

PRAYER BLANKET MINISTRY    We are starting a new prayer blanket ministry at St. Catherine.  We will be making fleece blankets for parishioners that are sick, having surgery or need healing in any way.  We are in need of crafters, monetary donations and prayers for the recipients.  If anyone is interested in helping with this ministry in any way, please call Nancy Hassman at (859)760-3751 or email at nhassman@fuse.net.

UPCOMING NOMINATIONS   We are currently seeking nominations for parishioners to fill seats on the Board of Catholic Education and Parish Pastoral Council.  These are left vacant by a number of outgoing Board and Council members who have dedicated their time and talents to St. Catherine Parish.  Please consider the many gifts you or your fellow parishioners have to offer these groups and deposit your nominations in the ballot box that will be located at the back of the chruch for the next few weeks.  Nominees will be contacted and invited to attend a discernment meeting in May.  You may contact Carol Little at 441-4070 or Bob Hassman at 653-6014 with any questions.
