IN OUR PARISH

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY     is extended to the family and friends of Pat Walsh who was recently buried from our parish.  May God grant her eternal rest.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

THANK YOU    On behalf of the entire Walsh family we would like to thank Fr. Stef, Denise Dirkes, Carol Adams, Mary Brown and all the parishioners for the support and selfless giving during the week of our mother, Patricia Walsh’s sudden illness and death.  It certainly means a lot to have so many wonderful people take care of every detail to make such a difficult time bearable.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and God bless you.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!    The High School CCD class would like to thank all of the families who helped support us in our St. Anne's Alarm Clock Wish. The Bake sale was a huge success! We were able to personally deliver the money to St. Anne's on Sunday, March 7th, where we joined the Sisters for mass and then received a tour of the Convent. Once again, thanks for the help. We are really happy to be able to have the opportunity to do service to help others.

BULLETIN BOARD APPROVAL   The bulletin boards at both entrances of church are used to inform parishioners of upcoming events, convey important information, etc. If you would like something put on the bulletin board, it must be approved by Fr. Stef.  Please do not post anything without first checking with the Parish Office for approval.

CRY ROOM CLOSED   This weekend and next weekend, the cry room will be closed. The grocery bags for the Lenten service project are being stored in there.

DEANERY PENANCE SERVICE     will be held here tomorrow, Monday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m.     There will be 5 or 6 priests hearing confessions, so this will be a great opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Easter.

ANNUAL LENTEN SERVICE PROJECT    There are still bags to be filled in the back of church. If every family would take one we would have all of them filled. If you’ve already filled one bag, take another one if you are able. The items needed are listed on the bags.  Just purchase the items and return the bags filled and labeled before Good Friday when they will be distributed.

EASTER BASKETS FOR EVERYONE!  St. Catherine’s 8th grade CCD class is collecting fun goodies for Easter baskets to give to Hosea House and they need your help!  The baskets will be passed out to children at Hosea House on Easter morning.  Some of the items they need are individually wrapped candy, small pencils, pens, and pads of paper, small new stuffed animals, prayer cards, decks of cards, matchbox cars, small toys and books, combs and small brushes, small coloring books and boxes of crayons and any other things you think a child would love to see in their basket on Easter morning. (The actual baskets have already been generously donated).  Donations can be taken to the parish center on Sunday, March 21st between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

BUS TO CATHEDRAL FOR CHRISM MASS, MARCH 30th   The Chrism Mass is celebrated once a year at the Cathedral.  All of the faithful of the diocese are encouraged to attend and celebrate this Mass with the bishop and the priests of the diocese.  During the Mass the bishop will consecrate all the oils that will be used in the diocese throughout the year - the Oil of the Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick and the Sacred Chrism. This is also the Mass at which the priests of the diocese renew their ordination promises.  A bus will be provided to take everyone to the Cathedral for the Mass.   It will leave the St. Catherine parking lot at 6:00 pm , March 30th and will return after the Mass.   Please call the parish office, at 441-1352 to reserve your seat on the bus.

ST. CATHERINE’S FEATURED SOLDIER     Each week in the bulletin, we will be publishing a list of soldiers for whom to pray.  If you know of a soldier you would like to be included in this new program, please e-mail his or her name to cdorger@fuse.net or call Ceil Dorger at 781-4334.

CCD TEACHERS: needed for the 2010-2011 school year. The time for discernment is now. We are in search of a third and eighth grade teacher. Interested persons must be active in their faith and ready to answer the call. Diocese requires applicants to be, or to become, Virtus trained and willing to begin work on teaching certification for religious education teachers. Contact David Kohrs at 859-653-4398 or kohrssd@fuse.net with your willingness to serve in this ministry.

TALE OF THREE PRIESTS THROUGH SONG AND SHARING   On Palm Sunday, March 28th, at 7:00 pm in church, three priests will share the journeys of their priesthood as we celebrate this the "Year For Priests" dedicated by our Holy Father. Join Fr. Stef Bankemper (opera), Fr. Norman Fischer (rapper and youth minister) and Fr. Raymond Guiao (singer/composer whose voice disorder ended his voice career in his vocation) as they share their personal joys and sufferings of priesthood.

THE DIVINE MERCY NOVENA   said in preparation for Divine Mercy Sunday, will begin on Good Friday immediately following stations of the cross. Please see next week’s bulletin for more information.

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, April 5th, 6th, & 7th.   Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport , preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

ST. BERNARD FOOD PANTRY    The March items for the food pantry are canned fruit, boxed cake mix and canned icing. You can drop off your donation to church, the parish office or the school office.
