IN OUR PARISH

ANNUAL LENTEN SERVICE PROJECT    The bags to fill for the agencies are in the back of church and ready to be filled with the items requested.  There are 400 bags to fill and if every family would take one we would have all of them filled. The items needed are listed on the bags.  Just purchase the items and return the bags filled and labeled before Good Friday when they will be distributed.

EASTER BASKETS FOR EVERYONE!  St. Catherine’s 8th grade CCD class is collecting fun goodies for Easter baskets to give to Hosea House and they need your help!  The baskets will be passed out to children at Hosea House on Easter morning.  Some of the items they need are individually wrapped candy, small pencils, pens, and pads of paper, small new stuffed animals, prayer cards, decks of cards, matchbox cars, small toys and books, combs and small brushes, small coloring books and boxes of crayons and any other things you think a child would love to see in their basket on Easter morning. (The actual baskets have already been generously donated).  Donations can be taken to the parish center on Sunday, March 14th or 21st between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

ST. CATHERINE’S FEATURED SOLDIER     Each week in the bulletin, we will be publishing a list of soldiers for whom to pray.  If you know of a soldier you would like to be included in this new program, please e-mail his or her name to cdorger@fuse.net or call Ceil Dorger at 781-4334.

CCD TEACHERS: needed for the 2010-2011 school year. The time for discernment is now. We are in search of a third and eighth grade teacher. Interested persons must be active in their faith and ready to answer the call. Diocese requires applicants to be, or to become, Virtus trained and willing to begin work on teaching certification for religious education teachers. Contact David Kohrs at 859-653-4398 or kohrssd@fuse.net with your willingness to serve in this ministry.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   will be having their monthly meeting today, Sunday, March 14th  at 12:30 p.m. in McCrystal Hall.  Be sure to stop by for some food, fun and friendship!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR   St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Order of Foresters will be hosting a Spring Arts & Craft Show on March 20th from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. There are over 50 booths of all types of arts & crafts.  Admission is $2.00.  Proceeds from the Show will be used to create a scholarship program for Catholic education.

ATTENTION CRAFTY PARISHIONERS     At the Spring Arts and Crafts Show on March 20th, our parish will have a craft table with all proceeds going to the Forester Scholarship Fund. At this time we are looking for parishioners who would like to donate hand crafted items. Whether you have 1 item or 10 items, we are interested in your donations.  Please contact Jan Hamilton at 781-2837 or 757-3460.

TALE OF THREE PRIESTS THROUGH SONG AND SHARING   On Palm Sunday, March 28th, at 7:00 pm in church, three priests will share the journeys of their priesthood as we celebrate this the "Year For Priests" dedicated by our Holy Father. Join Fr. Stef Bankemper (opera), Fr. Norman Fischer (rapper and youth minister) and Fr. Raymond Guiao (singer/composer whose voice disorder ended his voice career in his vocation) as they share their personal joys and sufferings of priesthood.

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, April 5th, 6th, & 7th.   Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport , preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

ST. BERNARD FOOD PANTRY    The March items for the food pantry are canned fruit, boxed cake mix and canned icing. You can drop off your donation to church, the parish office or the school office.

REMEMBER TO BUY SCRIP    Whether you need a birthday gift, graduation gift, groceries, gas for your car, dinner out, clothes or any number of everyday items, chances are the Shopping Club has something for you!  Our gift cards can be purchased after all weekend masses or Monday – Friday from 9:00a.m. 3:00 p.m. in the parish office.  This is a very easy and profitable program for our parish if it is utilized so be sure to get your scrip before you go out shopping!
