IN OUR PARISH

ST. CATHERINE SCHOOL HELPS HAITI     Last week, St. Catherine students were asked to bring in donations for Haiti for an out of uniform day on Tuesday. As a result, we raised $1718.95.  We hope to find other ways to also help, both now and in the future. The question many of us ask ourselves is how can I help and how can I be sure that my support will go to those who need it. 18 months ago while on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, our 5th grade teacher, Dave Schlachter, met a wonderful Catholic lady from Haiti named Francesca. He was very impressed with her Christ like devotion to the needy. Fortunately, Francesca’s home is still standing after the earthquakes, but almost everyone else in her neighborhood has lost everything (homes, jobs, food and money). 200 of her neighbors are sleeping in her backyard. Mothers with children under the age of one are actually sleeping in her home. She reports a desperate need for money and the fear of an incompetent government incapable of helping them.  Our school has targeted this neighborhood to help. 100% of our donations will go to help these needy people. Francesca will also be sending us pictures of the people we are helping so we can see the personal needs that they have. Their needs are severe and long-lasting.  Please keep the people of Haiti in your daily prayers.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   will be having their monthly meeting next Sunday, February 14th  at 12:30 p.m. in McCrystal Hall.  Be sure to stop by for some food, fun and friendship!

ST. CATHERINE’S FEATURED SOLDIER     We will periodically be featuring an overseas soldier either from the parish or related to parishioners.  As a parish, we will pray for and collect items for the featured soldier.  In addition we will be publishing a list of soldiers for whom to pray. A photograph of each featured soldier will be hung in the back of church with a box for collecting things to be sent from the parish.  If you know of a soldier you would like to be included in this new program, please e-mail his or her name to cdorger@fuse.net.

ST. ANNE’S CONVENT ALARM CLOCK WISH BAKE SALE     After the 11:30a.m. mass on February 14th and the 9:00 & 11:30 am masses on February 21st,  the High School CCD class will be holding a bake sale.  All proceeds will be used to purchase new alarm clocks for the sisters at St. Ann ’s Convent.  The class plans on a visit to the convent and nursing home sometime in March to present our proceeds.

ARE YOU A CRAFTER OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS?   St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Order of Foresters will be hosting a Spring Craft Show on March 20th from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and we are looking for crafters. Booths are $25.00 for a 10 ft space. If interested, please call Margie Schnelle at 859-409-9909.   Proceeds from the Craft Show will be used to create a scholarship program for Catholic education.

WOMEN'S RETREAT Don't forget to get your reservation in for the annual women's retreat at Marydale Feb. 26th - 28th.  Charlie Smeich will guide us back to and deepen our relationship with Our Father based on a reflection regarding Luke 15.  Please let Pat Brennan (781-2711) or Jennie Cox (441-4322) know by Feb. 12th so Marydale can begin preparations for us...remember we will receive 5 meals from them that you won't have to prepare or clean up from! Start the new year and the lenten season off right with a new, positive focus!  See you there!
