IN OUR PARISH

O come, all ye faithful,

come to Bethlehem ;

come and behold him,

who is born King of the angels.

Throughout the history of the Church, the faithful have made pilgrimages.  Sometimes they were made as a penance for sins forgiven in the sacrament, sometimes in hope of an indulgence, but just as often they simply grew out a person's faith, as a desire to experience the holy places of Christianity.

            Although we don't usually link pilgrimage with Christmas, it is what the Christmas carol invites us to do.  The manger scenes we erect are more than decorations. Spend some time in front of the one in your house, or kneel before the one in the back of church, or even just close your eyes in prayer.  Make a pilgrimage to the place of Jesus' birth.  Feel the chill of the night, smell the smells of the animals, look at Mary and Joseph caring for their child, see with wonder the baby who is also God.

            Come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

My Christmas wish for you is that your pilgrimage to the place of Jesus' birth this year brings you to know Him better.  He loves you, and came that you would know His love.

Fr. Stef

PLEASE NOTE   There will be no 4:30 p.m. mass on Saturday, January 1st.  We will have a 4:30 p.m. mass Friday, December 31st and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for the feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God.  This is a holy day, but not a day of obligation this year.

ATTENTION REMKE SHOPPERS    Remke is changing the way they do their donation program.  Instead of using your current Remke card, you will need to get a new gift card from the scrip program that will be used in the same way as the Kroger gift cards.  There is no cost initially; you will “load” the card at the store with whatever amount of money you would like and you can pay with cash, check or credit card.  Then you use the Remke card to pay for your groceries.  We will receive 4% of the money spent from all the cards.
