 IN OUR PARISH

BULLETIN DEADLINE CHANGE   Due to the upcoming holiday, the deadline for the November 28th bulletin is Wednesday, November 17th.  Please have any bulletin submission to the parish office by 3:00 p.m.   Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

THANKS FROM A NEW PARISHIONER    “I just wanted to say that I have never felt so welcomed in a new parish before.  Thank you so much”   Rita Sauerbeck.  Thanks to all who make our parish as welcoming as it is – your efforts make a difference!

LAST CHANCE - 7TH ANNUAL WOMEN’S DINNER: This weekend, Sunday, November 7th, is the deadline for reservations for the Women's Dinner hosted by the St. Catherine Men's Group on Saturday, November 13th. To make a reservation, just fill out the flyer previously distributed in the bulletin and drop it at the Parish Office or put it in the box in the back of church (by the Rossford exit). Extra reservation forms are next to the box. Don't miss the remarkable elegance, the exquisite music, the exceptional food, and the awe-inspiring (or, at least for one night, "useful") men dedicated only to serving you!

MEMORIAL MASS FOR JACK RITTER    Since there was no funeral mass held for Jack when he passed away last month, we have decided to make the mass this Wednesday, November 10th, a memorial mass for him.  Please pass this information on to anyone you know that may be interested in attending.

IT’S SKYLINE TIME!   Take a night off from cooking and treat your family to some Skyline chili on Thursday, November 11th, which is the next St. Catherine night at the Highland Heights Skyline.  Best of all, if you mention St. Catherine, a portion of your check will be donated back to the parish!  Be sure to purchase gift cards from our Scrip program before you go - that way, the parish benefits in two ways!

ADVENT WREATHS   Once again, members of the Boy Scout Troop 70 will be at St. Catherine taking orders for Advent wreaths.  They will be here after all masses on the weekend of November 13th & 14th displaying the wreaths and taking orders. These 12” diameter table top wreaths feature live greenery, tapered candles, decorating ribbons, and come with inspirational passages from the Bible.  Cost is $15.00 per wreath; advance payment is appreciated.  Please support our Scouts and enjoy a beautiful Advent wreath in your home this Advent season.  Wreaths will be available for pick up on Sunday, November 21st. For more information or to order a wreath other than in person after Mass, call 441-2468.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   The annual mass for all deceased members of the Siena Club will be held next Sunday, November 14th at 11:30 a.m.  All members are encouraged to attend this mass and then the monthly meeting immediately following in McCrystal Hall.

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, November 15th – 17th.   Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport, preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

HEALTH MINISTRY thanks for all those who received flu vaccine here at St. Catherine.  We also are seeking volunteers to help with a community garden located in Melbourne .  This garden will supply fresh produce in season to local food pantries.  Please call Sheila Carroll 491-8771 for more information.  There will be flyers at the side entrances to church this weekend.

ST. BERNARD PANTRY   For the month of November we will be collecting cookies.  Donations can be dropped off to church, the parish office or the school office.

PRO- LIFE FACT     They say they support choice, but the pro-abortion activists at NARAL want to leave women in unplanned pregnancy situations with one option: abortion.  In a recent letter to its members, NARAL president Nancy Keenan announced she is asking two internet directories to remove pregnancy center listings.  If they are successful, that means millions of people who visit the two prominent directories every year will not see listings for pregnancy centers that provide women with abortion alternatives.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD SPONSERS!    Planning for Love Boat 2011 – Rock Like an Egyptian - is well under way and we are in need of individuals and businesses willing to sponsor the event. All sponsors will be recognized on all Love Boat communications, including the website and Facebook page. Would you be willing to be an individual sponsor? Do you work for a business that might be interested in being a sponsor? Are you a business owner who has a vendor who would possibly be a sponsor? If so, please contact Catherine Ampfer @ 441-1908 or catherineampfer@fuse.net or Bridget Cavanaugh at 781-5459 or bcavanaugh73@hotmail.com. THANK YOU!!

TUITION ASSISTANCE    We have awarded $14,850 in tuition assistance to families in need.  To date, we have received $2,045 in donations.  If you would like to contribute to this fund, you may do so through the Sunday collection or directly to the parish office.  Be sure to indicate that the money is for tuition assistance.

HOMILIES ON CD       Fr. Stef’s latest homilies are now available on CD in the back of church.

IN OUR DIOCESE

EVENING OF DISCERNMENT   will be held on Wednesday, November 10th, 7:00pm , at St. Joseph Heights , Sister of Notre Dame Convent. For men and women interested in learning more about Religious Life, Diaconate and Priesthood.  Call Fr. Gregory Bach 859-957-9988 for more information.

“WHY BE CATHOLIC”     Dr. Marcelino D'Ambrosia will be speaking on this topic at St. Patrick Catholic Shrine in Taylor Mill at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14th.  His talk is designed to re-energize devout Catholics, giving them new insights into the role of Mary, the value of Sacred Tradition, and the power of the Sacraments.  Are you, as a parent, sure what faith you are passing on to your children? Are you as teen or young adult sure what you may be rejecting about your faith? This is a talk created to spark a deeper conversion to Christ and deeper commitment to His Church.

A FUTURE FULL OF HOPE   Thank you to all who contributed to last week’s special collection for the Seminarian Education Fund.  Our parish family generously donated $2,263.72.  Please continue to pray for our seminarians, for members of our clergy, and for vocations to the priesthood.

ATTENTION DIOCESAN YOUTH   XLT is sponsored by the Diocesan Youth Commission as an opportunity for all youth of the diocese to come together to be as one in sharing the love of God!  The evenings consist of Praise and Worship led by bands from various high schools, witness given by guest speakers, and Adoration.  They are held at Thomas More College, in Steigerwald Hall in the Holbrook Student Center and begin at 5:00 p.m. with pizza and drinks and continue with the XLT program from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.   The next XLT date is Sunday, November 21st, so be sure to mark your calendar!  Admission is free and no registration is required.
