IN OUR PARISH

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY   is extended to the family and friends of Joy Erpenbeck, who passed away last week.  Please remember her and her family in your prayers.  

ALL DAY ADORATION    Beginning Tuesday, November 30th and continuing through December 21st, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin immediately following 8:00 a.m. mass and will end with Benediction at 6:45 p.m.   If you would like to sign up for a time, there is a sign up sheet at the Rossford entrance. PARISH JESSE TREE PROJECT   The liturgical season of Advent is fast approaching and with it comes St. Catherine's annual Jesse Tree project.  The Jesse Tree will be located in the church's prayer/meditation space, and will hold ornaments printed with gift ideas for local agencies that are in need of our assistance this Christmas season. The project will begin on Saturday, November 27th and continue until Sunday, December 12th.  It would be much appreciated if your family would take part in this worthwhile project by taking an ornament from the tree, purchasing the indicated item, and returning the item to the Jesse Tree area by December 12th.  

ST. CATHERINE PLAYERS     There will be an informational meeting held on Sunday, December 12th t 7:00 p.m. in the library.  If you are wondering what the Players are all about, stop by and find out.  They are looking for more St. Catherine Parishioners to become members and showcase some of their hidden talents!

LUNCH WITH ST. NICK    Sponsored by the Catholic Order of Foresters will be held on Sunday, December 5th, immediately following 11:30 Mass until 2:00 p.m. in McCrystal Hall.  ALL ARE WELCOME but children must be accompanied by an adult.  There will be lunch, crafts and story time with St. Nick!  $5.00 Admission   Members- This event is FREE FOR FORESTERS because C.O.F. pays for your entrance fee as you sign in.  Non-Members- It's not too late to join! THE ST. CATHERINE MEN'S GROUP     Our next meeting is Monday, December 6th, at 8:00 pm in McCrystal Hall. Please join us as we plan our hottest event - the Burning of the Greens. The Men's Group meetings are open to all men of the parish 21 and older. Fellowship, refreshments, and snacks are all provided.

PRO- LIFE FACT     Adoration of the most Blessed Sacrament, accompanied by fervent family prayer of the rosary is the best way to protect innocent life.   

CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR FR. STEF    Anyone wishing to donate to a gift for Fr. Stef,  you can drop off your money or check(made out to Terri Babey) to the office or give it to Sandy Nagel, Kim Lampe or Terri Babey.  Please make sure your name is on the envelope so we can add your name to the card. Father has chosen a Cope (a cape-like vestment) to be used during benediction, processions, etc. This is a gift that will always serve as a reminder of his St. Catherine family.

IN OUR DIOCESE

 

PENANCE SERVICE      The Deanery Penance Service for Campbell county is scheduled to be held on Thursday, December 2nd at St. Philip Church in Melbourne at 7:00 p.m.   This is set up to give everyone a chance to receive the sacrament of reconciliation during the Advent season.  There will be several priests from the diocese, as well as Bishop Foys, available that evening to hear confessions.  If you would like to attend but need a ride, please call the office and we will arrange transportation for you.

TAJČI ((TATIANA) IN CONCERT   Start your advent season off with Emmanuel:  The Christmas Story.  This is a concert event you will not forget!  To be held at St. Barbara Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Road , Erlanger on Saturday, December 4th at 6:30 p.m.   Tajči is an internationally known singer/songwriter that has been inspiring audiences across America . Tajči’s powerful concert event: the music she writes, the story she tells, the voice that will blow you away.  This is her only Christmas concert in Northern Kentucky this year.  Admission is free.

NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL     invites you to attend, “A School of Character” Open House on Thursday, December 9th, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.   NCC offers you this opportunity to become more familiar with its religious education program, expanded curriculum, 11 advanced placement courses and dual credit program, academic enhancement program, athletics, extracurricular activities and its campus improvements and expansion.  The Open House will feature academic department exhibits along with Fine Arts, athletic and extracurricular activity displays.  Doors will open for registration at 6:30 PM and a presentation by Principal Bob Noll will begin at 7:00 PM .  Two lucky 8th graders in attendance will win a $250 NCC gift certificate in a special raffle for 8th graders only.  All are encouraged to attend!  For more details, contact the NCC Development Office at (859) 292-0001.

LPN  NEEDED - PART TIME 2ND AND 3RD SHIFTS    The Sisters of Notre Dame are currently seeking part-time LPNs to care for retired members in their long-term care and assisted living unit located in Park Hills.   If interested in working in this loving, home environment please send resume to:

ELSEWHERE

CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING AT FLORENCE MALL    Now and continuing thru December 24th, Interfaith Hospitality Network will be wrapping gifts at Florence Mall.   We do not know the site as yet.  We are in need of volunteers and assistant coordinators.  If you would like to volunteer to work a shift or to take a day to supervisor the gift wrap please contact Bill & Ruth Chestnut at (859)282-8586, cell 859-801-9114; or Betsy Evans 859-441-2785 or cell 859-620-2785. We can use you in at least two hour increments and are encouraging churches to volunteer for a whole day.   Youth groups should have one adult for each 4 youths.  All of the proceeds benefit Interfaith Hospitality Network, which houses homeless families of Northern Kentucky by using churches to provide sleeping quarters and meals. Please consider volunteering to help this very worthy cause.

THE WELCOME HOUSE SHELTER    for women and children needs our help.  The need for shelter has increased 24% since last year.  The shelter provides three meals a day, case management, employment assistance, and long term support.  St. Catherine is part of a coalition of parishes that support Welcome House.  Please consider investing in the lives of those who need it most by contributing online $33 to support a woman or child at www.welcomehouseky.org or by texting WH and the donation amount to 27138.  For those who would like to send a contribution by mail, you can do so to 205 Pike St. , Covington , Ky 41011 .
