IN OUR PARISH

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY     is extended to the family and friends of Donna Mader, who passed away last week.  Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU   Thanks to all who donated shoes for Niger .  We over-filled an entire pick up truck with your donations of well over 600 pairs of shoes!!  This is a great witness to the generosity of our parishioners!

PARISH NIGHT   The topic for next Wednesday’s Parish Night is “All Saints/All Souls”.  We will learn about the Beatification and Canonization process of saints and the fifth grade school children will be there to participate in their saint garments.  Make plans to join us and learn about yet another facet of our Catholic faith.

ALL SAINTS/ ALL SOULS    The mass for All Saints Day (Monday, November 1st) will be held at 9:00 a.m.   While this is a holy day, it is not a holy day of obligation this year.  The All Souls mass will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m.   Due to the mass, confessions will be canceled and Benediction will be at 6:00 p.m.   All are invited to join us for the mass as we remember those parishioners who have died this past year.  There will be a reception immediately following mass in McCrystal Hall – everyone is welcome

MEN OF THE PARISH      St. Catherine’s annual Men’s Retreat will be held November 5th - 7th at Marydale. Our Retreat Master will be Father Greg Bach and the topic for the weekend is “Grace Upon Grace”. If you are interested, please contact: Barry Henry 859-781-1815; Brian Cox 859-441-4322; or Bob Hassman 859-653-6014.

7TH ANNUAL WOMEN'S DINNER    presented by the St. Catherine Men's Group will be held on Saturday, November 13th.  All women of the parish are invited to this one-of-a-kind event! To make a reservation, please fill out the flyer from this weekend's bulletin and drop it at the parish office or put it in the box at the back of church (by the Rossford exit). Extra reservation forms are next to the box. Deadline for reservations is Sunday, November 7th.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION      Please continue to clip and send in box tops.  A list of products containing box tops as well as other information on other ways this program can support our school (online shopping) can be found at www.boxtops4education.com.  Beginning this year, proceeds from box tops will be used to purchase books for our school library which will enhance our Accelerated Reading Program for our children.  Please drop them off in the box in the back of church or at the school or parish office.

ST. BERNARD PANTRY   For the month of October, we will be collecting boxed potatoes, stuffing and canned yams.  Donations can be dropped off to church, the parish office or the school office.

PRO- LIFE FACT     The Planned Parenthood Federation of America states as one of its core beliefs “Every child deserves to be wanted, loved and cared for.”  Perhaps we should add “Unless the child is one of the 289,750 killed before birth in Planned Parenthood affiliated abortion clinics each year.”

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY    We have once again contracted Guide Book Publishing to publish a directory for our congregation that will be updated and delivered directly to your homes.  This book is the who, what, where, when, why and how of our parish.  It is being provided at no cost to us.  Local businesses are being solicited to advertise in the book.  If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the parish office at 441-1352.  Survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 9.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser.  It “will pay” to advertise in our new Guide Book.

UPDATE YOUR MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION   Does our parish database have your family membership record correct?  Here is your chance to update your record for our annual Guide Book and Directory.  Have you changed your phone number?  Have you moved?  Are you preparing to move soon?  Are all of your children still at home and are they all included in your membership record?  If you have not already informed the parish office about changes to your record, please do so now so that the information in the Directory is correct.

IN OUR DIOCESE

A FUTURE FULL OF HOPE    The Seminarians for our Diocese are preparing, through prayer, education and service to others, to become the future priests of our Diocese.  They look forward to “a future full of hope” for the Church.  Please carefully read the letter and brochure you will receive from the Bishop in the mail, and come to Mass next weekend prepared to assist these men in their preparation as future priests of the Diocese of Covington.  Please be generous in your gift and in your prayer for them.
