IN OUR PARISH

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY   is extended to Tina and Wade Smith on the death of their son, Garrett James, whose funeral was held last week.  Please keep the Smith family in your prayers. May they find comfort in God’s love.

CCD TEACHERS NEEDED     for the 2009-2010 school year.  Candidates must be virtus trained or be willing to become virtus trained and must begin working toward Diocesan Religion Teacher certification.  Interested persons should contact David Kohrs at 859-653-4398 or kohrssd@fuse.net.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL    Plans are underway for this year’s VBS, which will be held August 3rd – 7th.  In order for VBS to be successful, we need lots of volunteers.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Kim Kruer at (859)462-2856.  This is a great opportunity for junior high and high school students to earn service hours.  All volunteers over the age of 18 must be Virtus trained.  To register as a volunteer or participant, please complete the form included in this bulletin.

ST. CATHERINE TRAVEL GROUP   is planning a bus trip to New York , Philadelphia and Atlantic City September 19th – 25th.  The cost is $559 for 7 days and includes transportation, accommodations, 9 meals, guided tours and tips.  Call 781-3847 or 781-2232 for reservations or more information.

FESTIVAL NEWS

 

MARK YOUR CALENDERS!  The Annual Saint Catherine Golf Outing is scheduled for June 4th. The format is a four person scramble with an 11:30 shotgun start.  The cost this year is $320.00 per foursome and will include lunch, beverages and dinner!  Dinner this year will be at Saint Catherine following golf and will kick off the Festival Week!   All are invited to this family style dinner.  Dinner only will be $20.00 per person.  Reservations for dinner or golf can be made via email to pwhgcs@msn.com or by phone to Paul Hoarston @ 513-633-4644 (leave message).  Come join us in this fun filled day, and if you have never played in the past, this is the year to do it!  

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED     for set-up on Thursday and Friday evening, and clean-up immediately following the festival.  Please call Tim Reynolds at (859)512-1313 if you are able to help with either one.  Also needed are workers (high school age or older) for the interactive inflatables.  If interested in working a shift, please contact the parish office at 441-1352.  

RAT RACES    One of the most exciting events of the St. Catherine Summer Festival is THE RAT RACES!!!! (well, actually mice races)   In order for this event to be successful, we need families to sponsor mice.  The mice will cost $20 for one or $35 for two.  We will have 9 races, 10 mice per race.  Simply send the names you’d like used for your sponsored mice, along with payment to the school office, church office or send via mail to Rob Hans, 34 Carrington Pt., Fort Thomas, KY 41075.  Sponsorships for the mice are going fast so names and payment should be returned as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, June 5th.  Please contact Rob at 441-5430 or rlhans@fuse.net if you have any questions.  

BASKET RAFFLE   This year along with the Bid-N-Buy, the committee is putting together a themed basket raffle. We would like for each child in the school and CCD class to contribute an item to the basket assigned to their grade. The themes are listed below. Use your imagination and help us make these baskets fun and exciting. However, if you do not have time to shop, a cash donation would be greatly appreciated s well.  Remember this is your festival and this will be the only contribution you will be asked to make. Please have your item sent into your child’s classroom or drop it off at the parish office on or before May 29th. If you have any questions or need suggestions, please feel free to contact a committee member. IN OUR DIOCESE

 

THE SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME   need volunteers to work the booths at their annual 4th of July festival.  Proceeds from the festival help support their mission in the new Notre Dame Urban Education Center in Covington , the mission in Uganda , East Africa and their retired sisters.  They are also in need of household items, collectables, toys, and gift certificates for their silent auction and flea market.  If you would like to help, please contact Margie Schnelle at 392-8229 or email at mschnelle@sndky.org.

THE DIOCESAN CATHOLIC CHILDREN’S HOME    is a residential care and treatment center serving boys and girls, ages 6-12 that have moderate to severe emotional problems.  We are in need of assistance for our festival, June 12-14, which is a major fundraiser.  Donations for our Silent Auction and volunteers are needed.  Please contact Kathy Bohman at 586-4627.  Our children have no voice but yours and mine.  Please prayerfully consider this request.

 

A EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION    will be led by Bishop Foys around the grounds of the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption at 2pm on Sunday, June 14th, on the Feast of Corpus Christi.  All priests, deacons, religious and lay faithful of the Diocese are invited to participate in this celebration.  More information on this celebration will appear in the Messenger.  In the Eucharist the Lord Jesus is with us always.  Through participation in this Eucharistic procession we have the opportunity to give witness to belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.  Please consider participating in this celebration.

COME AND SEE WEEK   The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand , Indiana would like to invite single Catholic women 18-40 who have ever considered being a nun, to come live the life with us for a weeklong experience June 26th - July 2nd. This Benedictine Life Week will give participants an in-depth look at our life. Those who come will experience our rhythm of prayer, work and recreation. There will be input on monastic life and discernment, as well as time for personal prayer and faith sharing.
