PLEASE TAKE NOTE        Friday mass time will change to 8:00 am beginning May 29^th.  Also, the parish office will begin summer hours of 9:00 am – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1^st.  

THE NOVENA OF THE HOLY SPIRIT     is being prayed at each Mass from Saturday, May 23^rd  through Pentecost. To more fully engage in your Pentecost experience and to welcome in a special way the Holy Spirit into your life; please join in praying this novena.  If you can’t attend daily Mass but would like to pray the novena at home, please take one of the copies found in the pews. 

PRIEST ORDINATION    Deacon Bob Rottgers will be ordained into the priesthood on Saturday, May 30^th, 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral.  All are welcome to attend the ordination.  On Sunday, May 31^st, Fr. Bob will celebrate his mass of Thanksgiving at St. Catherine at the 11:30 mass.  There will be prelude music provided by parishioners Emily Hicks, Bethany Metzner, Kelsey Dunn and Natalie Schultz beginning at 11:10 a.m.

CCD TEACHERS NEEDED     for the 2009-2010 school year.  Candidates must be virtus trained or be willing to become virtus trained and must begin working toward Diocesan Religion Teacher certification.  Interested persons should contact David Kohrs at 859-653-4398 or kohrssd@fuse.net.

THE NEW SCHEDULES   for servers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are available in the back of church by the Rossford exit.  Please pick up your schedule.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL    Plans are underway for this year’s VBS, which will be held August 3^rd – 7^th.  In order for VBS to be successful, we need lots of volunteers.  If you are interested in helping, please contact Kim Kruer at (859)462-2856.  This is a great opportunity for junior high and high school students to earn service hours.  All volunteers over the age of 18 must be Virtus trained.  To register as a volunteer or participant, please complete the form included in this bulletin.

FESTIVAL NEWS

MARK YOUR CALENDERS!  The Annual Saint Catherine Golf Outing is scheduled for June 4^th. The format is a four person scramble with an 11:30 shotgun start.  This event has sold out in the past so please get your reservations in now.  The cost this year is $320.00 per foursome and will include lunch, beverages and dinner!  Dinner this year will be at Saint Catherine following golf and will kick off the Festival Week!   All are invited to this family style dinner.  Dinner only will be $20.00 per person.  Reservations for dinner or golf can be made via email to pwhgcs@msn.com or by phone to Paul Hoarston @ 513-633-4644 (leave message).  Come join us in this fun filled day, and if you have never played in the past, this is the year to do it!  

RAT RACES    One of the most exciting events of the St. Catherine Summer Festival is THE RAT RACES!!!! (well, actually mice races)   In order for this event to be successful, we need families to sponsor mice.  The mice will cost $20 for one or $35 for two.  We will have 9 races, 10 mice per race.  Simply send the names you’d like used for your sponsored mice, along with payment to the school office, church office or send via mail to Rob Hans, 34 Carrington Pt., Fort Thomas, KY 41075.  Sponsorships for the mice are going fast so names and payment should be returned as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, June 5th.  Please contact Rob at 441-5430 or rlhans@fuse.net if you have any questions.  

BASKET RAFFLE   This year along with the Bid-N-Buy, the committee is putting together a themed basket raffle. We would like for each child in the school and CCD class to contribute an item to the basket assigned to their grade. The themes are listed below. Use your imagination and help us make these baskets fun and exciting. However, if you do not have time to shop, a cash donation would be greatly appreciated s well.  Remember this is your festival and this will be the only contribution you will be asked to make. Please have your item sent into your child’s classroom or drop it off at the parish office on or before May 29^th. If you have any questions or need suggestions, please feel free to contact a

committee member. A SUMMER FESTIVAL WITH NO KIDS ’ GAMES?!   Sadly, that may be the case with our festival this year.  We do not have anyone to run the kids games and time is running out.  Please consider chairing this fun part of the festival.  There are guidelines to go by – you do not have to come up with the games yourself.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact Bob Hassman at 781-4666 or Tom New at 781-4332 as soon as possible.  

MAJOR RAFFLE TICKETS   for the summer festival can now be purchased through the parish office.  You can turn in your order form or pick up another one Monday – Friday from 9am – 3pm .  Tickets are $25 each and an additional $5 if you choose to do the “Lucky Loser/Split the Pot”.  If you have any questions about the raffle, please contact Anita Morris at 781-3307.

THE DIOCESAN CATHOLIC CHILDREN’S HOME  is a residential care and treatment center serving boys and girls, ages 6-12 that have moderate to severe emotional problems.  We are in need of assistance for our festival, June 12-14, which is a major fundraiser.  Donations for our Silent Auction and volunteers are needed.  Please contact Kathy Bohman at 586-4627.  Our children have no voice but yours and mine.  Please prayerfully consider this request.  

A EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION    will be led by Bishop Foys around the grounds of the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption at 2pm on Sunday June 14^th, on the Feast of Corpus Christi.  All priests, deacons, religious and lay faithful of the Diocese are invited to participate in this celebration.  More information on this celebration will appear in the Messenger.  In the Eucharist the Lord Jesus is with us always.  Through participation in this Eucharistic procession we have the opportunity to give witness to belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.  Please consider participating in this celebration.

BIRTHRIGHT OF GREATER CINCINNATI     will be holding their Annual Founder’s Day Prayer Breakfast. The keynote speaker is Rebecca Kiessling, an international pro-life speaker and adoption advocate. This event will be held on Saturday, May 30^th, at the Embassy Suites on 4554 Lake Forest Dr. , Cincinnati , Ohio , in Blue Ash. This event starts at 10:00 a.m. (doors open at 9:30 a.m. ). COME AND SEE WEEK   The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand , Indiana would like to invite single Catholic women 18-40 who have ever considered being a nun, to come live the life with us for a weeklong experience June 26^th - July 2^nd. This Benedictine Life Week will give participants an in-depth look at our life. Those who come will experience our rhythm of prayer, work and recreation. There will be input on monastic life and discernment, as well as time for personal prayer and faith sharing.
