     IN OUR PARISH

EASTER PRAYER CARD

You should have been given a prayer card along with your bulletin after Mass. (The intent was to distribute them last weekend, but we were unable to do so.) It is a reproduction of a well-known fresco by the Dominican friar and early Italian Renaissance painter Fra Angelico, depicting the scene in Mark=s Gospel from today=s Mass.  On the back is the Regina Coeli, a very old prayer in the Church.  Traditionally, this prayer has taken the place of the Angelus for the fifty days of the Easter season.  We are still praying the Angelus at noon every weekday at school and in the office; I hope you are still joining us at home or work or wherever you are.  I give you this card so that you can switch to the Regina Coeli from today until Pentecost.

The prayer is in color for those who want to pray it in a group.  The leader recites everything in blue, the rest respond with the lines in red, and all pray the prayer in black together.  May this joyful prayer keep the joy of Easter alive in your hearts, and may our uniting in prayer unite our parish more tightly in love.  May God bless you all.

Fr. Stef

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, April 20th, 21st, & 22nd.   Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport, preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

ST. CATHERINE PTO FLOWER SALE will be held on Wednesday, April 29th from 9am-1pm and Friday, May 1st from 1pm-5pm at the Fort Thomas Florist.  Please come and purchase your Spring and Summer flowering plants, mulch and supplies.  Parish volunteers will be available to help you with the selection and assist you in your purchase. FLOWERING BASKETS will be sold after the 4:30 pm mass on Saturday, May 9th and the 9:00 and 11:30 masses on Sunday, May 10th.  All proceeds from both of these sales will benefit St. Catherine’s Church.  Volunteers are still needed to help with both sales. The knowledge of plants is beneficial but not required.  Please contact Kelly Frost at 441-0778 or kfrostky@fuse.net  for more information.

ST. CATHERINE PLAYERS PRESENT    "Children of Eden ". Remaining performances are on Friday, April 24th at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 26th at 6pm in McCrystal Hall.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. For show and ticket information contact Conni Tupes at 859-781-0009

ST. CATHERINE’S MEN’S GOLF LEAGUE   Come join the fun! Since it’s beginning in 1968, the St. Catherine’s Men’s Golf League gives its members an opportunity to play golf with fellow parishioners, friends and family. The league plays a spouse friendly schedule of only 9 holes every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, starting April 28th through August. An optional annual end of the year outing on September 17th – 20th at Perry Park Ky, is also available.  Our tee times on Tuesday are from 4 to 6 PM , at A.J. Jolly.  The league is handicapped so everyone can participate on a level playing basis, regardless of ability. We also have a sub list for those who may not be able to play every Tuesday, but may want to join when possible.  Contact Kevin Johnson @ 441-8331 or email kjohnson1@fuse.net, for further information.

ALL PARISHES ARE CORDIALLY INVITED to gather in prayer for a renewed national awareness and defense of respect for human life.  A mass will be offered at St. Joseph Church on Wednesday, April 29th.  Rosary will begin at 6:30 pm concluding with benediction.  Mass begins at 7:00 followed by a recitation of the winning pro-life essay by St. Joseph School students and a reception in Kelley Hall. Our individual and united community prayers are necessary in bringing an end to legalized abortion and embryonic stem cell destruction.

IN OUR DIOCESE

PRO- LIFE CHASTITY SPEAKER   The Diocese once again welcomes speaker Jason Evert to share his inspirational testimony with teens and their parents.  In his highly popular chastity seminar, Romance Without Regret, Jason provides compelling and uplifting reasons for embracing the virtue of chastity.  His presentation to the public will take place on Wednesday evening, April 29th at the Drawbridge Inn in Ft. Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. and it is free and open to the public.  Jason will also be talking to the Freshman and Sophomore students from all of our high schools on Thursday, April 30th at 2 high school assemblies.

2009 DIOCESAN PARISH ANNUAL APPEAL   In preparation for Commitment Weekend, please take the time to read the DPAA newsletter that is enclosed with today’s bulletin.  As you learn more about DPAA ministries, reflect upon all the good that has been accomplished throughout the 25 year history of the Appeal because of the sacrifices ad generosity of our Diocesan family.  Gifts to the Appeal translate into ministries that tirelessly serve thousands of men, women, and children every day of the year.  Some of these ministries benefit you and your fellow parishioners. Some of them serve those you may never meet.  A pledge to the Appeal makes you an ambassador for Christ in love, sacrifice and service.  Next weekend, during Mass, we will complete our DPAA pledge cards together.  Everything we do as Church is done to continue the mission of Christ until the end of time.  As we use our gifts in service to one another, we do so in His name.  Let us reach out in faith and give generously to the 2009 DPAA.
