PLEDGE UPDATE (Financial) – As of this writing, 329 families have pledged $610,180 for the 2010 calendar year.  With 684 registered families, that means fewer than half of our families have pledged any financial support for next year.  Last year, 487 families pledged $938,679, which means that our current amount pledged is down $328,459, almost a third of last year’s amount.  The next step in the pledge drive is a letter to those who have not pledged.  After the first of the year, if there are still families that haven’t pledged, we will call them.  If you haven’t yet pledged, please consider supporting your parish financially.  If you pledge today, you could save us the expense of mailing you a letter, or the time of phoning you.  Pledge cards are in the back of church.

PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR SICK   Al Howe, Joan Craft, Judy Thiel, and Paula Riedmatter Perrino.  Also, remember our parishioners in nursing homes as well as those confined to their homes in your prayers.

Dear Fr. Stef, Fr. Bob and  St. Catherine Parishioners,

Please accept my heartfelt "Thank You" for the prayers offered for my husband Bob and our family during his illness.  I believe that the prayers were what kept Bob going for so many years.  His body was continually growing tired and it is now comforting to know he is no longer suffering and he is at peace with God.  The many calls, cards and attendance at Bob's Mass by so many St. Catherine parishioners will never be forgotten.  Thank you for keeping us a part of St. Catherine's.  There will always be a special place in my heart for St. Catherine's Parish.  I just can't find the words to express my thankfulness to have had the opportunity for Bob and myself to have been able to experience the love shared by St. Catherine's faith community.    May God Bless each of you, Audrey, Lori and Kirt Shay

SCHEDULES AVAILABLE  If you are a server or extraordinary minister of holy communion, please pick up your new schedule in the back of church by the Rossford exit.

HOMILIES ON CD   The new homily reflection cd’s are available in the back of church.  They feature the homilies from the last few weeks of ordinary time.

PARISH JESSE TREE PROJECT   The Jesse Tree will be located in the church's prayer/meditation space, and will hold ornaments printed with gift ideas for local agencies that are in need of our assistance this Christmas season.  It would be much appreciated if your family would take part in this worthwhile project by taking an ornament from the tree, purchasing the indicated item, and returning the item to the Jesse Tree area by December 13th.

ST. CATHERINE GOES CHRISTMAS CAROLING   Would you like to bring peace, joy and love to others this advent?  Then join us as we go Christmas caroling Sunday, December 13th at Carmel Manor at 5:00 pm and the Barrington at 6:00 p.m.   Please gather in St. Catherine’s parking lot at 4:45 p.m.   This event gives true meaning to the season. For questions, please contact Nancy Miller at 781-0097.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   will be having their monthly meeting next Sunday, December 13th at 12:30 p.m. in McCrystal Hall.  Be sure to stop by for some food, fun and friendship!

ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE   As you know, we usually hold a community penance service each Lent and Advent.  Last year, Bishop Foys commanded deanery penance services, which would, presumably, move from parish to parish.  When the deanery service was held in Alexandria or Cold Spring we kept our own, but the deanery service for Advent will be at St. Thomas parish, so we have not scheduled one just for our parish.  The deanery penance service will be held on Monday, 14 December, at 7:30 p.m.   Fr. Bob and I both will be there, along with a few other priests.  Whether you attend this community service or celebrate the sacrament individually, I hope you use the sacrament of Reconciliation to help you prepare for upcoming Christmas season.                  Fr. Stef

ST. CATHERINE JUNIOR HIGH PLAY    Tickets are on sale for the Junior High production of Annie, Jr.   Performance dates are January 15th, 16th, 17th, 22nd, and 23rd.  Cost for show is $5.00.  Please see ticket order form enclosed in bulletin.

CALLING ALL PARISHIONERS!!  Help create the St. Catherine of Siena Parish Wall.  A magnificent, one of a kind tile wall, composed of individually painted tiles will be created, but not without you!  Becoming part of this special project and St. Catherine history is easy. Just purchase a voucher anytime between now and our annual Love Boat Fundraiser on February 6, 2010 .  Look for our display after select masses and St. Catherine events, or visit the parish website.  Two options are available – a $50.00 you paint it tile (designs unlimited) or a $75.00 we paint it tile (3 designs available). A date will then be selected in late February for all participants to come and paint their part of history.  Several artists and creative-minded individuals will be on hand to assist you.  So make your mark - celebrate a baptism, birthday, or wedding, memorialize a loved one, or give as a Christmas gift! Visit the St. Catherine website for all details or call Robin Lindeman  781-6255 or Diane Kroger 441-2243 with questions.

SCRIP PROGRAM    Thanks to all of those who continue to buy Scrip.  Please keep in mind that the cut-off date for Christmas orders is Tuesday, December 15th, after that you will be limited to the inventory we have on hand.  Gift cards are not only an easy and useful gift, they can also be used for your holiday shopping.  We have cards for gas, groceries, restaurants and retail stores.  Check out the list of available vendors on the parish website.  We truly do have something for everyone and this is a great way to support the parish!

SAVE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREES AND THE DATE   The St. Catherine Men's Group will hold our annual Burning of the Greens on Candlemas, Wednesday, February 3, 2010 (Parish Night) after Mass. Be sure to save your tree and drop it off (or we'll pick it up) after Christmas. More details to follow.

ST. CATHERINE MEN'S GROUP MEETING MONDAY  Our next Men's Group meeting is this Monday, December 7, at 8:00 pm in McCrystal Hall. All men of the parish age 21 or older are invited. We'll be planning the Burning of the Greens and our next Cornhole/Euchre Tournament. Thanks again to everyone who helped make the 6th Annual Women's Dinner a huge success!
