IN OUR PARISH

THANKSGIVING WISHES     During this time of family gatherings and rituals for the Thanksgiving Holiday, let us not forget Jesus who gave us a true reason to be thankful. Invite Him to all of your events and give thanks for all that we have been given. Have a great holiday!   Fr. Stef, Fr. Bob, and the Office Staff

WE WELCOME TO THE PARISH FAMILY THROUGH BAPTISM   Kolbey Marie Kohrs, daughter of Scott and Angela.  May she always know God’s blessings.

ALL DAY ADORATION    Beginning Tuesday, December 1st and continuing through December 22nd, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin immediately following 8:00 a.m. mass and ending with Benediction at 6:45 p.m.   If you would like to sign up for a time, there is a sign up sheet at the Rossford entrance. If you have any questions, call Cathy Henry at 781-1815.

ADVENT WREATHS   After each mass today, Sunday, November 22nd, youth from Boy Scout Troop 70 will be displaying and taking orders for Advent Wreaths.  These 12” diameter table top wreaths feature live greenery, tapered candles, decorating ribbons, and come with inspirational passages from the Bible.  Cost is $15.00 per wreath; advance payment is appreciated.  Please support our Scouts and enjoy a beautiful Advent wreath in your home this Advent season.  Wreaths will be available for pick up on Sunday, November 29th, the first Sunday of Advent.  For more information or to order a wreath other than in person after Mass on the 22nd, call 441-2468.

LUNCH WITH ST. NICK     Attention all Ages! The Catholic Order of Foresters will be sponsoring a Lunch with St. Nick again this year. It will be on his actual feast day, December 6th.  Join us for lunch, fun, a craft and a visit from St. Nick himself. Admission is a coloring book and crayons or $3 per person. Please contact Lisa Wormald at 781-6280 or lwormald@fuse.net to make your reservation. Hope to see everyone there!

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT      Thanks to all those who contributed to our October Collection for the St. Bernard Pantry – it was our biggest collection to date! The collection items for November are tuna and noodles.  These donations will be taken to the pantry at the end of the month.  One of the corporal works of mercy is “to feed the hungry”.  With your help, we are able to do just that.

THANKSGIVING DAY COLLECTION   We will once again be donating our Thanksgiving Day collection of non perishable items and paper products to St. Bernard Pantry (this is in addition to our ongoing monthly collection).  They are trying to meet the needs of more than 250 families each month, and that number keeps growing. Any donation is appreciated, but they did say they are always running low on spaghetti, meat sauce, tuna and peanut butter.  Monetary donations of cash or checks made out to St. Bernard Pantry will also be accepted.

PARISH JESSE TREE PROJECT   The liturgical season of Advent is a few days away and with it comes St. Catherine's annual Jesse Tree project.  The Jesse Tree will be located in the church's prayer/meditation space, and will hold ornaments printed with gift ideas for local agencies that are in need of our assistance this Christmas season. The project will begin on Saturday, November 28th and continue until Sunday, December 13th.  It would be much appreciated if your family would take part in this worthwhile project by taking an ornament from the tree, purchasing the indicated item, and returning the item to the Jesse Tree area by December 13th.

THE ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS FAIR is a way for individuals and families to take a portion of what they would normally spend on material gifts for friends and family members and use that money to benefit the lives of others.  Agencies supported by the fair are:  BeConcerned, Hosea House Soup Kitchen, IHN, Madonna House, St. Bernard Food Panty and Welcome House.  The 8th grade Confirmation class at Saint Catherine’s put together this year’s Alternative Christmas Fair, which was held last weekend.  For those of you that were unable to attend and would still like to give, you can stop by the parish office or mail your donation to St. Catherine, 1803 N. Ft. Thomas Ave. , (be sure to designate which agency you wish to support).  Donations will be accepted until December 14th.

UPDATE MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION    Does the church have your family membership record correct?  It is time for us to update our database with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in your family over the past year.  Have you changed your phone number?  Have you moved or are you planning to move soon?  Are all of your children still at home and are they all included in your  membership record?   Here is your chance to update your record for our annual Guide Book & Directory.  If you have not already informed the church office about any changes to your record, please let us know now so that the information in the new Guide Book is correct.  Our information will be transmitted to the company at the end of this month, so please inform us any changes as soon as possible.
