IN OUR PARISH

ALL SOULS MASS    will be held on Monday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m.   All are invited to join us as we remember those parishioners who have died this past year.  There will be a reception immediately following mass in McCrystal Hall – everyone is welcome.

PARISH NIGHT   Join us Wednesday, November 4th after evening mass for our “All Saints” parish night.  Fifth grade school children will participate, dressed as saints, as Fr. Stef gives a brief description of each saint.  We hope the children as well as the adults will stay for this portion.  Next, Fr. Stef will talk about the Saints featured on our church’s stain glass windows.  There will then be a short reception in McCrystal Hall.

ST. CATHERINE MEN’S RETREAT   is being held at Marydale, November 6th - 8th.  It will begin Friday night about 6:00 p.m. and end no later than 1:00 p.m. Sunday.   The retreat leader is Fr. Stef and the theme for the weekend is “Praying with Parables”.  Cost is $125.00.  For more information or to make reservations, call Brian Cox @ 441-4322; Bob Hassman @ 653-6014 or Barry Henry @
781-1815.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB    Will be holding their monthly meeting next Sunday, November 8th.  If you are looking for a good way to spend your Sunday afternoon, stop by McCrystal Hall at 12:30 p.m. and join the fun!  There will be cards, food and friends.

6TH ANNUAL WOMEN'S DINNER    presented by the St. Catherine Men's Group will be held on Saturday, November 14th.  All women of the parish are invited to this one-of-a-kind event! To make a reservation, please fill out the yellow flyer from last weekend's bulletin and drop it at the parish office or put it in the box at the back of church (on the office side). Extra reservation forms are next to the box. Deadline for reservations is Friday, November 6.

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, November 16th, 17th 18th.   Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport , preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

ST. CATHERINE MEN'S GROUP MEETING CHANGE     Our meeting scheduled for Monday, November 2nd has been changed to Monday, December 7th at 8:00 pm in  McCrystal Hall. Speaker to be announced later. We could still use some 21-or-older male servers and kitchen workers for the 6th Annual Women's Dinner. To volunteer, please call or e-mail Dave Barth. 859-441-0194 or dlb@corsbassett.com

STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITY    Looking for a way to give back to your parish?  Consider being a greeter at a weekend mass.  The commitment is small, only one mass per month, but the rewards are great!  You will have the chance to welcome fellow parishioners as well as visitors to St. Catherine as they enter mass.  What a great way to not only meet new people, but to help bring the light of Christ to them as well.  This is an important ministry of our parish, as it lets everyone entering our doors know that they are welcome and wanted here.  If you would like to be a part of this, contact Paul and Ann Basham at 781-0012.

SCRIP UPDATE   Gift cards for the following retailers are now available through the Scrip program: Meijer, Gordon Food Service, Aeropostale, Dot’s, Logan ’s Roadhouse, Cold Stone Creamery, Michael’s, and Overstock.com.  Not all of these cards are kept in stock, but they can be ordered.  With Christmas quickly approaching, keep the Scrip program in mind, not only for gift-giving but for your shopping needs as well.

THANK YOU   to all who responded to the Drop Inn Center ’s needs.  Any sheets, blankets, towels and dish cloths are always needed, they do not have to be new. We go there on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Items can be left on our front porch.  Again, many thanks!  Lee & Joanne Niehaus, 40 Rossford Ave.

NOVEMBER RESTAURANT NIGHTS      Thanks to everyone who participated in last month’s St. Catherine Nights at local restaurants.  We received checks from Applebee’s ($65.36), Skyline ($25), and Papa John’s ($130.25).  Mark you calendars for the upcoming nights: Thursday, November 12th – Skyline Night ( Highland Heights store only); Sunday, November 15th – Applebee’s ( Highland Heights ); Wednesday, November 18th, Papa John’s ( Southgate ).  Our hope is that most parishioners will be able to attend one of these nights – this is an easy way to earn extra money for the parish and it gives the chef in the family a night off!

HOMILIES ON CD    The October homilies are available on CD in the back of church.

FOLLOW ME   Thank you to all who contributed to last week’s special Collection for the Seminarian Education Fund.  Our parish donated $1657.00.  If you have not made your gift, please drop your envelope into the offertory basket today or next weekend.  Please continue to pray for our seminarians, for members of our clergy, and for vocations to the priesthood.

TIME TALENT AND TREASURE MAILING    This week, you will receive a packet regarding the nature of the Time, Talent, and Treasure program. The packet will contain a letter from Fr. Stef, a pledge card and a time and talent form. Please reflect prayerfully upon the gifts you can share with our parish community.  Everyone is called to return a portion of the gifts that God has given you.  Consider the amount of your time, your talent and your treasure that you will share with our parish in the coming year in gratitude for God’s gifts to you.  Please make a conscious effort to examine your current priorities, see where the mission of our parish is placed within them.  Then, adjust your priorities, based upon you obligation to support the work of the Lord.
