FROM THE PARISH OFFICE      Fr. Stef will be taking a well-deserved vacation beginning Saturday, January 10th - Monday, January 19th.  We pray for his safety during his traveling.

LOVE BOAT '09       is still looking for items for the Live and Silent Auctions.  If you have an item to donate, please contact the Parish office at 441-1352, or Ken Farney at 781-4216.

ROSALIND MOSS TALK CDS AVAILABLE      If you would like to purchase the two-CD set for $4.00 they are available in the church office. There will also be a set you may borrow from our library in the back of church (please return in 3 days). Questions call Terri 441-3438.

HOMILIES ON CD   Fr. Stef’s homilies from Advent and Christmas are available in the back of church.

JUNIOR HIGH PLAY     Don’t miss your last opportunity to see the St. Catherine Junior High production of the The Sound of Music.  The final performances are Friday, January 16th & Saturday, January 17th.   Cost for the show is $5.00.  Cost for dinner and show (Saturday) is $15.00.  For tickets call Dottie Hartman 292-0423.

PRE-K RELIGION IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS:  Have you been wondering how you can give back to the Church, but don’t have a lot of time to spare? We have an opportunity for you!  Pre-K Religion is in need of teachers that are Virtus certified.  We hope to begin offering classes in January and ending in early May, 2009. The time commitment is minimal and you will only “teach” every other Sunday (during 9am mass) which amounts to only 10 classes that you would help prepare. Please consider introducing the concepts of God and Bible stories into the lives of our 3-5 year olds.  Call Candace Doepker at 859-572-0113 for more information.   Parents - please pick up your forms in the back of church to enroll your children.  Children 3-5 who are potty trained are eligible.  Forms need to be returned by Jan 19, 2009.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL CHAIRS NEEDED      We are in need of one or two people to chair the 2009 Vacation Bible School .   VBS is a week-long adventure for the children of the parish in which they learn about and grow closer to Jesus.  If you think you would like to be part of this ministry, please contact Jamie Hochleutner at 781-0855.

ARE YOU MISSING A BOWL OR PLATTER?  If you have provided food for funerals and did not get your dish back, there is a variety of bowls, platters, etc. in the bar area in McCrystal Hall.  Please call the parish office to arrange pick up.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   Come and join the fun!  The Siena Club will be meeting next Sunday, January 18th at 12:30 p.m. in McCrystal Hall.  If cards, food and friends interest you, then be sure to stop by!

DAY OF PRAYER AND PENANCE    has been declared on Thursday, January 22nd by Bishop Foys to mark the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing abortion.  Every church will remain open during the day to allow the faithful to pray for an end to abortion, to pray for all those affected by the tragedy of abortion, and to pray for the 50 million children murdered by abortion.  Every parish will also expose the Blessed Sacrament for period of time on this day.  Here at St. Catherine, we will have exposition from 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.   Finally, Bishop Foys has designated 10 churches to host a Holy Hour for Life beginning at 7:00 p.m. All members of the diocese are strongly encouraged to attend.  The complete list of churches can be found in the Messenger.  We must all do our part to protect the dignity of the human person and ensure the inalienable right to life for all - especially the unborn.

SIGN UP FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION   If you are interested in signing up for a time period during adoration on January 22nd, please call Cathy Henry at 781-1815.

ALL WOMEN OF THE PARISH    If you are 18 years old or over, you are invited to our parish retreat on Feb 20 - 22 at Marydale Retreat Center .  We will be led by Fr. Charlie Smiech, O.F.M.  His theme will be "The Great Diversity of Christian Spirituality."  He will talk about the many different ways of praying within the Catholic tradition focusing on the Holy Spirit who draws us to a deeper union with God.  The men of our parish have had him as a director in the past and speak very highly of him.  Please send your $25 deposit to Pat Brennan (781-2711) or Jennie Cox (441-4322); an additional suggested donation of $90 is requested by Marydale at the time of the retreat.  Come and grow in faith with your parishoners.

AN INVITATION     If you’re confined to home and unable to attend Mass (even if it’s just temporary), please call St. Catherine Parish Office (441-1352) if you’d like to receive Holy Communion in your home.  One of our Parish Ministries – Outreach to the Homebound – is waiting to bring the Eucharist to you or a family member, or even your neighbor.  We know that this is a need waiting to be filled, but we must first hear from you.  So please accept this invitation and allow us to share the Living Bread – the Body of Jesus with you.
