PREPARATION FOR SACRAMENTS POLICY students make their immediate preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist in the second grade class, and their immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the eighth grade class. All of the grades, 1-12 are important and necessary for the remote preparation for the sacraments and a fuller understanding of the Catholic Christian Faith. It is for this reason that the St. Catherine Board of Catholic Education has set policies establishing requirements for the preparation for the sacraments. To comply with these policies, any child wishing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation must attend all grades of religious education training prior to the year of the receipt of the sacrament.
ATTENTION MEN & WOMEN OF ST. CATHERINE! Familia teams are forming now for the Fall. What is Familia? Familia offers a variety of parish programs that strengthen families by helping men and women live their vocation to marriage and parenthood in all its fullness. Through dynamic group discussion on relevant topics, participants discover the message of authentic love in their vocation to marriage and through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Programs for Fathers, Mothers and Couples are available. To learn more about Familia or to join a team, please contact: Maria Bozeman at mariabozeman@hotmail.com.
WHAT IS RCIA?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the sacramental
formation process that prepares a person to become a member of the Roman
Catholic Church. Conversion is at
the heart of the process. The
initiation of new members can only take place within the context of a community
of believers. The initiation of
adults is the responsibility of all the baptized.
How Can Parish Members Become
Involved in the RCIA Process? One
of the most essential parts of the formation process is the identification of
candidates. This is one instance
where members of our faith community play a vital role.
Is there someone in your life who has expressed an interest in knowing
more about our faith? Do you have a
spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or anyone who has spoken with you about this
subject? Ninety percent of our
candidates come from referrals of parish members.
If you have someone in your life that would like to consider the
possibility of becoming a Catholic, please call or have the potential candidate
call the parish office (441-1352), Jeff Rosenstiel (803-3434), or Paul
Meisenhelder (491-9455). The RCIA
classes begin on Thursday, September 18th,
at

2008 DOMESTIC NEEDS COMBINED COLLECTION May God bless you for your stewardship. Your gift to this collection will fund media programming and projects that promote Gospel values, help college students’ dreams come true by providing tuition assistance, give a hand up to those living in poverty, assist Catholics in remote and poor mission territories to live out their faith under difficult circumstances, and fund evangelization programs that otherwise may be in danger of disappearing among the African American, American Indian, Eskimo and Aleute Communities within the U.S. If you have not made your gift to Strengthen Your Church at Home, please do so today or next weekend. Use the envelope you received in the mail or the one included in your parish envelope box. Make your check payable to the Domestic Needs Collection. Thank you.
