HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, September 22nd, 23rd, & 24th.  Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport , preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITY     If anyone is interested in becoming an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, please contact Kim Lampe at klampe@fuse.net or 441-9955.  Training for new ministers will be held in the next 2 weeks.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIST TO GOD’S MESSAGES WHILE DRIVING     Would you like to share His messages with a friend or a shut-in?   Fr. Stef’s August homilies are now available on CD. They can be picked up in the parish office during the week or in the back of church after the weekend masses.

PREPARATION FOR SACRAMENTS POLICY    students make their immediate preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist in the second grade class, and their immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the eighth grade class. All of the grades, 1-12 are important and necessary for the remote preparation for the sacraments and a fuller understanding of the Catholic Christian Faith. It is for this reason that the St. Catherine Board of Catholic Education has set policies establishing requirements for the preparation for the sacraments. To comply with these policies, any child wishing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation must attend all grades of religious education training prior to the year of the receipt of the sacrament.

ATTENTION MEN & WOMEN OF ST. CATHERINE!   Familia teams are forming now for the Fall.  What is Familia?  Familia offers a variety of parish programs that strengthen families by helping men and women live their vocation to marriage and parenthood in all its fullness.  Through dynamic group discussion on relevant topics, participants discover the message of authentic love in their vocation to marriage and through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Programs for Fathers, Mothers and Couples are available. To learn more about Familia or to join a team, please contact: Maria Bozeman at mariabozeman@hotmail.com.

WHAT IS RCIA?   The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the sacramental formation process that prepares a person to become a member of the Roman Catholic Church.  Conversion is at the heart of the process.  The initiation of new members can only take place within the context of a community of believers.  The initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptized.    How Can Parish Members Become Involved in the RCIA Process?  One of the most essential parts of the formation process is the identification of candidates.  This is one instance where members of our faith community play a vital role.  Is there someone in your life who has expressed an interest in knowing more about our faith?  Do you have a spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or anyone who has spoken with you about this subject?  Ninety percent of our candidates come from referrals of parish members.  If you have someone in your life that would like to consider the possibility of becoming a Catholic, please call or have the potential candidate call the parish office (441-1352), Jeff Rosenstiel (803-3434), or Paul Meisenhelder (491-9455).  The RCIA classes begin on Thursday, September 18th, at 7:00 p.m. in the room next to the school library.  Please reach out to potential candidates and encourage them to make the call or volunteer to do so for them.

CORNHOLE AND EUCHRE    The St. Catherine's Men's Group will be hosting the 2nd Annual Cornhole, Euchre & Reds Game on the Big Wall Event, Saturday, September 27th from 6:30 pm - 11:30 pm in the Parish Center - Gym.  This event is for all adults 21 or older (not just for men).  Come join us for an exciting night of cornhole, euchre and Reds game viewing.  Reservations strong suggested.  Look for the flyer in next weeks Bulletin.  Contact Rob Hans at 441-5430 or rlhans@fuse.net to register your cornhole team and/or to signup for euchre.

FR. TIM SCHEHR    will speak on "Women in the Bible" on Saturday, October 4th from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m here at St. Catherine.  Come join us for a lively learning experience as Fr. Tim enlightens us with insights gained from a lifetime of teaching and meditation on God's word.  Fr. Tim is a professor of biblical studies in sacred scripture at the Athenaeum of Ohio and is an excellent speaker.  This is one event you won’t want to miss.  Lunch will be provided.  There is no charge for this event but donations will be accepted to offset expenses.  Please call Pat Brennan for reservations at 781-2711.

FOUND IN CHURCH    A class ring from 1934 was found in church a few weeks ago.  If it belongs to you or someone you know, please contact the parish office.  Also, several pairs of glasses have been found in church over the past several months.  If you have lost a pair, please check in the box at the Rossford exit.

 IN OUR DIOCESE

BLUE MASS    sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, to be held on Thursday, September 11th, 7:00P.m, at St. Thomas Church .  This mass is to honor the men and women who dedicate their lives to service in the policy and fire departments of our local communities, and our military who are serving our country.  We ask God to continue to bless and keep them and their families safe.  We will pray the rosary before mass, so arrive early if you would like to join us.

MASS FOR PEACE      Bishop Roger Foys invites you to participate in a Mass for Peace at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption on Thursday, September 11th.   This diocesan Mass will commemorate the seventh anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country on Sept. 11, 2001.  Please join Bishop Foys as he offers the Sacrifice of Mass for peace in our country and in the world.  All priests and deacons of the Diocese are encouraged to participate in this Mass.   You will have the opportunity to inscribe the name of a loved one who has lost his or her life due to warfare or violence in a special book.

A "memory wall" will be available to remember loved ones who lost their battle with breast cancer.  Breast cancer survivors will be recognized with a special “survivor” t-shirt and will be introduced between matches.  Survivors can register at www.nccvball@hotmail.com.  For more information contact Meredith Sandfoss of Newport Central Catholic at (859) 292-0001 or Mel Webster of Bishop Brossart at (859) 635-2108.  100% of the proceeds will benefit Chicks & Chucks, Inc., a resource for breast cancer patients who are in financial need of products and services.
