SIENA CLUB    Will be meeting today, Sunday, September 14th in McCrystal Hall at 12:30 p.m.   Don’t miss this month’s chance to enjoy in the fun, laughter and fellowship of this group.  If you’ve never been to a meeting before, stop in and see what it’s all about.  You’ll be glad you did!!  

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, September 22nd, 23rd, & 24th.  Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport , preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.   

STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITY     If anyone is interested in becoming an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, please contact Kim Lampe at klampe@fuse.net or 441-9955.  Training for new ministers will be held in the next 2 weeks.  

WOULD YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO GOD’S MESSAGES WHILE DRIVING     Would you like to share His messages with a friend or a shut-in?   Fr. Stef’s August homilies are now available on CD. They can be picked up in the parish office during the week or in the back of church after the weekend masses.

CORNHOLE AND EUCHRE    The St. Catherine’s Men’s Group will be hosting the 2nd Annual Cornhole, Euchre & Reds Game on the Big Wall Event, Saturday, September 27th from 6:30 pm - 11:30 pm in the Parish Center - Gym.  This event is for all adults 21 or older (not just for men).  Come join us for an exciting night of cornhole, euchre and Reds game viewing.  Reservations strong suggested.  Look for the flyer in next weeks Bulletin.  Contact Rob Hans at 441-5430 or rlhans@fuse.net to register your cornhole team and/or to signup for euchre.

FR. TIM SCHEHR    will speak on “Women in the Bible” on Saturday, October 4th from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m here at St. Catherine.  Come join us for a lively learning experience as Fr. Tim enlightens us with insights gained from a lifetime of teaching and meditation on God’s word.  Fr. Tim is a professor of biblical studies in sacred scripture at the Athenaeum of Ohio and is an excellent speaker.  This is one event you won’t want to miss.  Lunch will be provided.  There is no charge for this event but donations will be accepted to offset expenses.  Please call Pat Brennan for reservations at 781-2711.

UPCOMING PRAISE AND WORSHIP     Rosalind Moss, international speaker, frequent radio guest on Catholic Answers Live and a co-host on EWTN, to speak at St. Catherine of Siena in Ft. Thomas , KY on Sunday, November 16th from 6-8:30pm .  She was a convert from Judaism and Evangelical Protestant before making the journey home to the Catholic faith in 1995.  Don’t miss Rosalind Moss as she shares her faith journey with love and humor.  Tickets are $10 and checks should be made payable to St. Catherine of Siena . FOUND IN CHURCH    A class ring from 1934 was found in church a few weeks ago.  If it belongs to you or someone you know, please contact the parish office.  Also, several pairs of glasses have been found in church over the past several months.  If you have lost a pair, please check in the box at the Rossford exit.   

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION   Please continue to save Box Tops for Education to help support St. Catherine School .  They can be placed in the box at the Rossford Avenue entrance of church or dropped off at the school office.  We earn 10 cents for each box top, so the dollars can really add up fast!  For a list of products which have box tops, visit www.boxtops4education.com. “UNITED IN THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER”   The 1st Annual HITS for CHICKS Volleyball Game will be held on Tuesday, September 16th. The match between Bishop Brossart and Newport Central Catholic will be held in the NCC school gym beginning at 5:00 PM .  The purchase of an official "Hits for Chicks" t-shirt will gain you free admittance into the game.  T-shirts will be available to purchase at either of the high schools beginning on September 5.   The cost is $8 for students and $10 for adults. A “memory wall” will be available to remember loved ones who lost their battle with breast cancer.  Breast cancer survivors will be recognized with a special “survivor” t-shirt and will be introduced between matches.  Survivors can register at www.nccvball@hotmail.com.  For more information contact Meredith Sandfoss of Newport Central Catholic at (859) 292-0001 or Mel Webster of Bishop Brossart at (859) 635-2108.  100% of the proceeds will benefit Chicks & Chucks, Inc., a resource for breast cancer patients who are in financial need of products and services.  

OKTOBERFEST   to be held at St. Joseph Church , 6833 Four Mile Rd. , Camp Springs on Saturday, September 20th.   The event begins with mass 4:00 p.m. and continues throughout the evening.  There will be booths, major raffle, music and games, including kiddyland and of course, good German food!

AREA CATHOLICS INVITED TO CHURCH ANNIVERSARY MASS   The parish of St. John the Baptist Church in Wilder will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its church building with a special Mass at the church, located  at 1307 John's Hill Road (off of Route 9), on Sunday, September 21st, at noon.  The Most Reverend Roger Foys, will celebrate the Mass. A reception will immediately follow in the parish hall and will include remarks from local leaders. The community is invited to attend. Those interested in attending the Mass and/or reception are asked to call the church office at 781-2117 to RSVP.

LADIES’ STAGETTE     Sponsored by the parent teacher club at St. Joseph School , Camp Springs , will be held on Sunday, Sept 28th.  The event will take place from 2pm - 6pm at Bishop Brossart High School ’s Hegenauer Hall, located in Alexandria .  This is a fun filled day of bingo, games, raffles, snacks, beverages, dinner, and much more.  Tickets for this event are $15.00, pre-paid only.  Please call Angie Koetting to make your reservation @ 859-635-6088.  Space is limited please call Angie before Sept. 26th.

FUNDRAISER    to be held for George Hollenbeck (son-in-law of maintenance supervisor Dennis Kramer), on Saturday, September 27th at the VFW, 8261 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria , from 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.   George was diagnosed with leukemia in January 2008 and has been fighting for his life since then.  This fundraiser is being held to help assist George and his family financially since neither he nor his wife has been able to work for the past 7 months.  Presale tickets (prior to Sept. 17th) are $20 and include admission, beer, soft drinks, appetizers, auction and dancing.  After September 17th, tickets will be $25.
