IN OUR PARISH

FROM THE PASTOR    I realize I have not explained the final disposition of the money we received this past fiscal year in a bequest.  We received $196,000.  In consultation with the Finance Council and the Pastoral Council, I decided to start an endowment.  At this time, the Finance Council feels that the best use of the income from this endowment will be capital repairs/improvements.  We used most of the money for the endowment, but held some back to cover the diocesan assessment, capital repairs and to cover this fiscal year’s projected budget shortfall.  The funds break down as follows:

Bequest                                                            $196,000

Endowment                                                      $125,000

Diocesan Assessment on Bequest                     $22,369

Capital Repairs (in excess of 2007 DPAA)       $29,829

Projected Budget Shortfall                                $18,802

MASS TIME CHANGE    Beginning this Friday, August 22nd, Friday mass will begin at 9:00 a.m.

ADORATION HOURS EXTENDED    Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, Eucharistic Adoration will be  offered every Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. , with Benediction immediately following.  If you would like to sign up for a 30 or 60 minute time slot, please contact Cathy Henry at 781-1815.

PARISH FAMILIES, MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd!  This will be the first meeting in our upcoming Wednesday evening series of adult, youth and children’s faith formation.  The evening will begin with Mass at 6:30 p.m. , followed by an overview of the program by Fr. Stef in the church.  We will end with a spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Foresters in McCrystal Hall.  We’ve made Wednesday a free night in the parish; hopefully you’ve been able to free it up in your families.  Come, join us.

THE NUMBERS ARE IN!!!!   Our three-days of festival activities were a huge success!  The golf outing,  Friday’s music  fest and the actual festival itself, brought in $41,338.  A huge thank you goes out to the many, many people responsible for organizing and working these events. We are very blessed to have so many people willing to work together for the good of the parish.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL   was held last week and went very well.  Many children attended and had good time learning about Jesus.  Thanks to all the volunteers without whom we could not offer this educational and fun week.  Heather Stuempel and Patty Chalk have done a wonderful job of organizing VBS for the last several years, but they have decided to take a break next year and pass the reigns on to another team.  We thank them and all who worked so hard to make our Vacation Bible School a success.

SATURDAY EVENING SACRISTAN   We are in need of a sacristan for the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturdays.  This is a very important job; the sacristan is responsible for most of the practical details of getting us ready for Mass, and a good sacristan frees me up to think about the things I need to think about.  The commitment is every Saturday.  If you think this would be something you would like to do, please speak with me.   Fr. Stef

SCHEDULES AVAILABLE     The new server and extraordinary minister schedules are available in the back of church. The new schedule starts August 18th.  Please pick up your schedule today.

HOMILIES ON CD     Fr. Stef's inspirational homilies from July are now available on CD.  These powerful messages give you the opportunity to listen, reflect and connect to God throughout the week.  The CDs can be picked up in the back of church.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL    The Catholic Order of Foresters will be sponsoring an ice cream social this Sunday after 11:30 mass.  They will be in the parking lot so be sure to stop by and treat yourself to some delicious ice cream.  (In case of rain, they will be in McCrystal Hall).

ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS   Please submit volunteer hours and committee name for July to Cheri Hunter by email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com, phone at 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.  If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those with the June hours.  The hours are reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis - so you are never too late to report hours.  Thanks again for your help in this matter.
