IN OUR PARISH

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY    is extended to the family and friends of Ken Abner, who was buried from our parish last week.  Please keep Ken and his family in your prayers.

SERVER AND MINISTER SCHEDULES       The new schedules are available for pick up in the back of church near the Rossford exit.

HOMILIES ON CD     Fr. Stef’s homilies from May 18th - June 1st are available in the back of church.

MANY PEOPLE PLAN VACATIONS,    but have you thought about a retreat?  St. Meinrad Retreat Center, one of the ministries of St. Meinrad Benedictine Abbey, offers retreats throughout the year.  We have put a booklet containing a description and schedule of their many retreats on the bulletin board inside the Rossford entrance to the church.  If you are not in the habit of making a yearly retreat you would be surprised at the impact it will make in your life.  St. Meinrad is close, about three hours away, and is a beautiful place to relax, retreat, and come closer to our Lord.

JAIL MINISTRY      The Deanery Pastoral Council has recently approved a plan for Jail Ministry.  We will be opening a half-time position for a Jail Ministry Coordinator at Catholic Charities beginning        1 January of next year.  This is a much-needed position.  I don=t know any of the details of this position, but if this ministry is something to which you think God might be calling you, contact Catholic Charities at 581-8974.           Fr. Stef

ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION   Are you an alumni of St. Catherine of Siena School ? We would like to get an Alumni Association together. If you would like to help make this happen, please contact Betsy Stegner at 441-3463. I have lists of all the past classes but need people who attended St. Catherine to help identify and contact people. This could be a lot of fun for those of you who attended St. Catherine. Please call if you can help. We will meet on Thursday, July 10th to share ideas of how to make this happen and what we can do once the names are gathered.

CCD REGISTRATION FOR 2008-2009 continues.  Registration form and information sheet may be downloaded from our parish website at www.stcatherineofsiena.org  and should be returned to the parish office to the attention of David Kohrs by no later than June 30th for on-time registration.  Registration forms received later than June 30th will be assessed a higher fee.  Refer to information sheet for on-time and late registration fee structures.   Contact David Kohrs, CCD Coordinator, for further details at kohrssd@fuse.net.

PREPARATION FOR SACRAMENTS POLICY    students make their immediate preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist in the second grade class, and their immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the eighth grade class. All of the grades, 1-12 are important and necessary for the remote preparation for the sacraments and a fuller understanding of the Catholic Christian Faith. It is for this reason that the St. Catherine Board of Catholic Education has set policies establishing requirements for the preparation for the sacraments. To comply with these policies, any child wishing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation must attend all grades of religious education training prior to the year of the receipt of the sacrament.

COMBONI MISSIONARIES    This summer, the Comboni Mission will be hosting two of their missionary priests from Egypt who work in Cairo where they minister to the refugees coming from South Sudan .  These priests will be the speakers at this year’s summer mission event: Refugee Trail: Darfur to Cairo.  It will be held at the new Anderson Center , 7850 Five Mile Road , Anderson Township, on Tuesday, July 1st from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.   Fr. Achilles and Fr. Richard will give a firsthand account of what refugee life is like for so many people.  It will help us understand why people have to leave their own home, land and country, and often their families.  These priests will make us more deeply aware of our common faith in the Lord Jesus who is leading the history of the refugees and ours as well.
