ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION   Are you an alumni of St. Catherine of Siena School ? We would like to get an Alumni Association together. If you would like to help make this happen, please contact Betsy Stegner at 441-3463. I have lists of all the past classes but need people who attended St. Catherine to help identify and contact people. This could be a lot of fun for those of you who attended St. Catherine. Please call if you can help. We will meet on Thursday, July 10th to share ideas of how to make this happen and what we can do once the names are gathered.

CCD REGISTRATION FOR 2008-2009 continues.  Registration form and information sheet may be downloaded from our parish website at www.stcatherineofsiena.org  and should be returned to the parish office to the attention of David Kohrs by no later than June 30th for on-time registration.  Registration forms received later than June 30th will be assessed a higher fee.  Refer to information sheet for on-time and late registration fee structures.   Contact David Kohrs, CCD Coordinator, for further details at kohrssd@fuse.net.

PREPARATION FOR SACRAMENTS POLICY    students make their immediate preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist in the second grade class, and their immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in the eighth grade class. All of the grades, 1-12 are important and necessary for the remote preparation for the sacraments and a fuller understanding of the Catholic Christian Faith. It is for this reason that the St. Catherine Board of Catholic Education has set policies establishing requirements for the preparation for the sacraments. To comply with these policies, any child wishing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation must attend all grades of religious education training prior to the year of the receipt of the sacrament.

ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS   Please submit volunteer hours and committee name for May to Cheri Hunter by email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com, phone at 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.  If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those with the May hours.  The hours are reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis - so you are never too late to report hours.  Thanks again for your help in this matter.

IN OUR DIOCESE

HELP KEEP NEEDY FAMILIES COOL      The “summer swelter” has begun and it’s not even officially summer!  We are collecting funds again this year to purchase box fans and extension cords to be distributed by our friends at Brighton Center to needy recipients in the Campbell County area.  Any size donation is accepted and appreciated.  Last year we raised just over $1000, which allowed us to buy over 50 fans and 40 extension cords.  Please consider donating to help the many members of our community that suffer through the hot summer months without the relief of air conditioning.  Feel free to forward this information on to your friends and family.  We will be accepting donations through the middle of July.  Please make checks payable to: Fund-a-Fan.  Your donation can be sent to 454 Ward Avenue , Bellevue , KY 41073 .  Thanks in advance for your generosity.  The Miglio Family - St. Bernard Parish.

CHRIST IS OUR HOPE     is the theme of the 2008 Peter's Pence Collection, which we will conduct in our parish next weekend.  The theme reflects the message Pope Benedict contained in his encyclical Spe Salvi….the message that faith in Christ brings hope that can sustain people through the trials of this world. Your gift will enable the Holy Father to bring the hope and love of Christ to those who suffer from war, oppression, disease, and natural disasters.  For additional information visit the collection website www.usccb.org/ppc.   Please make a thoughtful and generous gift next weekend to help build a better world for those most in need.

COMBONI MISSIONARIES    This summer, the Comboni Mission will be hosting two of their missionary priests from Egypt who work in Cairo where they minister to the refugees coming from South Sudan .  These priests will be the speakers at this year's summer mission event: Refugee Trail: Darfur to Cairo.  It will be held at the new Anderson Center , 7850 Five Mile Road , Anderson Township, on Tuesday, July 1st from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.   Fr. Achilles and Fr. Richard will give a firsthand account of what refugee life is like for so many people.  It will help us understand why people have to leave their own home, land and country, and often their families.  These priests will make us more deeply aware of our common faith in the Lord Jesus who is leading the history of the refugees and ours as well.
