The PTO HANGING BASKET SALE  will be held after all three masses this weekend, May 10th and 11th, outside the Rossford Avenue entrance of the church.  All baskets will be $16.50. Proceeds from this sale will benefit St. Catherine’s Church.  In the event of rain, please visit us in McCrystal Hall.  Please contact Kelly Frost at 441-0778 or kfrostky@fuse.net  for more information.

ATTENTION 2008 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS     St. Catherine of Siena wishes to honor each of you on your successful completion of twelve years of learning next Sunday, May 18th at the 9:00 a.m. mass, followed by a reception in McCrystal Hall.  If you are a graduate this year and have not received a letter, please call the parish office.

READY, SET, CHARGE     We currently offer parishioners the opportunity to give their contribution to the parish via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) and are now making available another new way of making monthly contributions to the parish.  We are willing to offer the parish the opportunity to make their monthly contributions with either Mastercard or Visa.  We in no way are suggesting that anyone finance their parish contribution through the use of credit cards, however, some credit card companies offer incentives, rebates, etc…  This could possibly help you earn sky miles or a cashback bonus. Our goal in doing this is to make tithing more convenient for you.  If you have any questions about this, please contact Mary Brzinski in the parish office, 441-1352, ext. 14.

NEW GIFT BEARER LIST       A new Gift Bearer schedule has been created for the rest of 2008 and part of 2009.  You should be receiving a post card with your assignment listed. You can also view the list on the website.  If you have any problem with your assigned date, please feel free to switch with someone else on the list.  Call the Parish office at 441-1352 with any other problems or questions.

DO YOU HAVE ANY EXTRA ROSARIES?     Rosaries are being collected for the Youth Mission Trip to Belize .  They will be given to Belizian Catholics as a sharing in our faith.  Please place donated rosaries in the basket in the back of church near the Rossford exit. Please call Joe or Pat Brennan at 781-2711 with any questions.

FESTIVAL 2008   Once again, we will have our dollar envelope booth.  We are looking for donations of new toys, games, books, and stuffed animals.  Please call Tammy Schroder, 781-2412 if you have any questions and/or donations.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL REGISTRATION 2008   This year VBS will be held August 4th - 8th.  Our theme is Son World Adventure Park VBS.  Registration forms are now available on the St. Catherine website, in the back of church and in the school and parish offices.  Please take a moment and get your kids signed up early!  You can also use the same form if you wish to be a volunteer.  We promise a faith-filled and fun week for participants and volunteers!  Don’t miss out.   Any questions, call Patty Chalk at 441-0560 or Heather Stuempel at 781-6122.

ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS   Please submit volunteer hours and committee name for April to Cheri Hunter by email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com, phone at 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.  If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those with the April hours.  The hours are reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis - so you are never too late to report hours.  Thanks again for your help in this matter.

HOMILIES ON CD       Fr. Stef’s homilies from April are now available and can be picked up in the back of church or in the parish office.

STEWARDSHIP FAIR    Mark your calendars, the next stewardship fair will be held May 24th & 25th, following all masses.  Make plans to stop by McCrystal Hall and find out about all the ways you can use your time and talents to be of service to your parish.

THE EAGLE PROJECT       is St. Catherine of Siena ’s Estate and Gift Legacy Education Project. It is a brand new parish project to facilitate the desire of many parishioners to include St. Catherine Parish in their estate planning.  Our goal is to educate parishioners on the best ways to leave strong legacies of faith to honor their God, their Church and their Family while, as good stewards, they also provide maximum positive tax impact on their estates.  At this time we are looking for members of the parish who are interested attorneys or financial planning professionals to be part of our advisory and support group.  If you would like more information please contact David Garner at (859) 466-7052 or email dm_garner@yahoo.com.

Pentecost Sunday

“Peace be with you!”  John 20:19

On that first Easter Sunday the frightened disciples who had abandoned Jesus were behind locked doors.  Jesus appeared and said, “Peace be with you!”  When Karol Wojtyla stepped onto a balcony as Pope John Paul II he told the crowd, “Do not be afraid”.  In Cajun country people say “Mais cher, laissez les bon temps rouller!”  (My dear, let the good times roll!)  On Pentecost Sunday, fifty days after being in a room behind locked doors, the Apostles accepted their responsibility to be good stewards of the message and mission of Jesus Christ.  They were at peace with their faith in Jesus as the Risen Lord.  They came out from behind the locked doors and courageously proclaimed the Good News.  They have passed on that responsibility to each of us in our own time.  Are we at peace with our faith in Jesus as the Risen Lord?  Are we doing our part to carry on the mission and speak the message of Jesus?  Then, Peace be with you!  Do not be afraid!
