IN OUR PARISH

FEAST OF ST CATHERINE    Tuesday is our patronal feast.  We will celebrate it at the 8:00 a.m. Mass, of course, and then the Eucharist will be exposed all throughout the day until Benediction at 6:45 p.m.  I invite you first of all to come to Mass, but then to find some time in the day to spend time with our Lord in the Eucharist.  Finally, I invite you to participate in Benediction, and then enjoy dessert and coffee afterwards, in McCrystal Hall. If you have a favorite desert and the time to make it, feel free to bring it with you.  Let us make the feast day of our patroness a special day of prayer and good fellowship.      Fr. Stef

ST. CATHERINE STAFF UPDATE     We welcome Dennis Kramer as the newest member of our staff.  Dennis will be working full-time as our Facilities Supervisor/Custodian and will be joining our current maintenance staff of Stan Van Lierop, Sally Taylor and Tom Adkins.  We are very happy to have him join us and think he will be a great asset to St. Catherine Parish.  Ted Kasselmann, who has worked here part-time since November 2006, has decided to leave St. Catherine and enjoy some time relaxing. We will miss Ted and wish him the best of luck.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU     to all the parish for the money and gift cards.  All of them have come in handy in our time of need.  We are now in a furnished condo in Highland Heights and will be staying there until our home is finished at the end of June.  Thanks again and God bless all of you, Karen, James and Cheryl Johnson

OUR RISEN LORD AS THE GOOD SHEPHERD     is the title of the talk that Fr. Timothy Schehr will give this Sunday, April 27th at 7:00 PM at St. Catherine Church (date of talk in the Community Circle was incorrect). Our distinguished and learned guest is an Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at St. Mary's Seminary in Cincinnati. He also has done graduate studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and also earned a PH. D. from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.  If you're new at scripture or a scholar you'll love Fr. Timothy Schehr! He will conclude this year's Praise & Worship 'Men In Black' tour.  Questions call Terri 441-3438 or Sharon 441-1069.

ST. CATHERINE PTO ANNUAL FLOWER SALE    This Tuesday, April 29th from 9am-1pm and Wednesday, April 30th from 12pm-4pm, the PTO will have its annual flower sale at the Fort Thomas Florist.  Plan to come and purchase all of your gardening supplies (flowers, mulch, containers, etc.) for the spring and summer season.  Parish volunteers will be available to help you with the selection and assist you with your purchase.  Payment can be made by cash, check, charge, or house account at the time of purchase.

HANGING BASKETS     will be sold on Mother’s Day weekend, May 10th and 11th, after all three masses.  All proceeds from both of these sales will benefit St. Catherine’s Church.  Please contact Kelly Frost at 441-0778 or kfrostky@fuse.net  for more information.

NEW GIFT BEARER LIST       A new Gift Bearer schedule has been created for the rest of 2008 and part of 2009.  You should be receiving a post card with your assignment listed. You can also view the list on the website.  If you have any problem with your assigned date, please feel free to switch with someone else on the list.  Call the Parish office at 441-1352 with any other problems or questions.

UPCOMING NOMINATIONS        This is the last of three weeks that we are seeking nominations for parishioners to fill seats on the Board of Catholic Education and the Parish Pastoral Council.  Six positions must be filled, three on each board.  Please consider the many gifts you or your fellow parishioners have to offer these groups and deposit your nomination(s) in the ballot box that will be located at the back of the church for the next few weeks.  Nominees will be contacted and invited to attend a discernment meeting on May 7th.  You may contact Matt Connolly at 441-7195 if you have any questions.

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, May 5th, 6th, & 7th. Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport, preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Lisa Walburg at 441-4964 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.  Thank you to Jim and Bev Stegman who have helped with set-up for IHN at Christ Church for every rotation since St. Catherine became a support church many years ago. Their hard work has been greatly appreciated by the volunteers at both churches and by the countless homeless families they have served. Jim and Bev helped set-up guest rooms on the Sunday before our rotation and we will need to provide that service with new volunteers starting this next rotation. If you are interested in helping with the set-up on March 2nd at Christ Church for about 1 hour please call Lisa Walburg.

SAND VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE    Preliminary plans are being made to have a Sunday late afternoon/early evening co-ed volleyball league.  Games will be played on the sand courts in the Boden’s side yard.  Depending on how many people are interested, we could have an upper and lower division.  Please call Judy at 781-3890 if you are interested in getting a team together or have any questions or suggestions.  This league will be sponsored by the Boosters and will be a fun raiser.  There will, however, be some entry fee to cover costs of getting the courts ready and for officials.  The Bodens have graciously offered their yard for family picnicking and socializing before and after the games.

ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS   Please submit volunteer hours and committee name for March to Cheri Hunter by email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com, phone at 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.  If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those with the March hours.  The hours are reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis  - so you are never too late to report hours.  Thanks again for your help in this matter.

DO YOU HAVE ANY EXTRA ROSARIES?     Rosaries are being collected for the Youth Mission Trip to Belize.  They will be given to Belizian Catholics as a sharing in our faith.  Please place donated rosaries in the basket in the back of church near the Rossford exit. Please call Joe or Pat Brennan at 781-2711 with any questions.

USE YOUR GIFTS IN SERVICE TO ONE ANOTHER     This weekend is Commitment Weekend for the 2008 Diocesan Parish Annual Appeal.  The impact of your pledge to the Appeal is felt every day: families are strengthened, the hungry are fed, the homeless sheltered, parishes and schools have the resources they need to help us live our faith and educate our children, and the formation of our priests, seminarians, and lay leaders continues to grow.  Today we will complete our pledge cards together in gratitude to the Lord for all He has shared with us and for all He continues to share with us each day.  Please make yours a prayerful intention as you complete your pledge card.  Each ministry is critical for the people we serve.  Remember 100% of all pledges collected over our parish goal of $54,822.00, will be returned to our parish to be used for capital improvements.  Let us pray for one another, as together we promote the Good News of our all-loving God. God bless you for your generosity!
