DPAA Commitment Weekend
OUR
DEEPEST SYMPATHY goes out
to the family and friends of Judy Towles, who recently past
away. Her funeral was held in
Lexington on Friday, April 11th.
Please remember Judy and her family in your prayers.
PLEASE
TAKE NOTE There
will be no confessions after the Saturday, 8:00 a.m. mass.
THANK
YOU to everyone in the
St. Catherine of Siena family who contributed to the benefit given for
our son Robert. Thanks, also to the committee for their many hours of hard
work to make the occasion a great success.
Your kindness and generosity were overwhelming.
My family and I are sincerely grateful!
God Bless. Mrs.
Ann Hiance
FEAST OF ST. CATHERINE Our titular feast is coming up on the
29th of this month. According
to the Church's ancient tradition, the feast day of the patron or patroness of a
place ranks as a liturgical solemnity, and can be celebrated as such.
This year Catherine's feast day falls on a Tuesday.
Since that is our regular day for Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction,
I thought we could use our devotion to the Eucharist as the foundation for our
celebration, especially since Catherine had such a strong Eucharistic devotion.
We will celebrate Mass as usual at 8:00 a.m., but instead of exposing the
Eucharist at 3:00 p.m., I would like to expose it after Mass, and have adoration
all day. We will end with
Benediction at the usual time, 6:45 p.m., followed by a desert social in
McCrystal Hall. To make this work
we will need more people to sign up for a time of adoration.
You can sign up for a half hour or an hour time period during the day by
calling Cathy Henry, who does the scheduling for adoration. We will have deserts downstairs afterwards, but if you have a
favorite desert and the time to make it, feel free to bring it with you.
Let us make the feast day of our patroness a special day of prayer and
good fellowship. Fr. Stef
HEARTFUL QUILTERS Whether you can sew or not, be sure to join us Monday,
April 21st from
6:30 until 9:30 in McCrystal Hall for the next Heartful Quilters gathering. We
will be finishing a few quilts we already started while hopefully beginning some
new quilts. We have a few ladies who like to knit and crochet; please come and
join them if you would like. Any fabric donations would be greatly appreciated!
Call Pat at 781-2711 or Betsy at 441-3463 with questions.
ST. CATHERINE PLAYERS Bringing the
fun of '50s rock 'n' roll to life, the St. Catherine Players will be
performing Bye Bye Birdie on Friday, April 25th at
7:30pm, and Sunday, April 27th at 6pm - all shows in McCrystal Hall.
Tickets for this family friendly show are $8 for adults or $6 for
children 12 and under. For more information contact Allison Klocke at
(513)598-5794.
OUR
RISEN LORD AS THE GOOD SHEPHERD
is the title of the talk that Fr. Timothy Schehr will give on Sunday,
April 27th at 7:00 PM at St. Catherine Church (date of talk in
the Community Circle was incorrect). Our distinguished and learned guest is an
Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at St. Mary's Seminary in Cincinnati. He
also has done graduate studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and
also earned a PH. D. from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
If you're new at scripture or a scholar you'll love Fr. Timothy Schehr! He will
conclude this year's Praise & Worship 'Men In Black' tour. Questions
call Terri 441-3438 or Sharon 441-1069.
ST. CATHERINE PTO
ANNUAL FLOWER SALE will be held Tuesday,
April 29th from 9am-1pm and
Wednesday, April 30th from 12pm-4pm at the Fort Thomas Florist.
Please make plans to come and purchase all of your spring and summer
flowering plants, mulch, and supplies. Parish
volunteers will be available to help you with the selection and assist you with
your purchase. Payments can be made
by cash, check, charge, or house account at the time of purchase.
HANGING BASKETS
will be sold after the 4:30pm mass on Saturday,
May 10th and after the 9:00 and 11:30 masses on Sunday, May 11th. This
is another perfect opportunity to brighten your home or pick up a gift for Mom
on Mother’s Day! All proceeds
from both of these sales will benefit St. Catherine’s Church. Volunteers are still needed to help with both sales.
Please contact Kelly Frost at 441-0778 or kfrostky@fuse.net
for more information.
UPCOMING NOMINATIONS This is the second of
three weeks that we are seeking nominations for parishioners to fill seats on
the Board of Catholic Education and the Parish Pastoral Council.
Six positions must be filled, three on each board.
Please consider the many gifts you or your fellow parishioners have to
offer these groups and deposit your nomination(s) in the ballot box that will be
located at the back of the church for the next few weeks. Nominees will be
contacted and invited to attend a discernment meeting on May 7th.
You may contact Matt Connolly at 441-7195 if you have any questions.
HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES through
the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, May 5th,
6th, & 7th. Assistance is needed in transporting
families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport,
preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for
families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be
paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from
answering the call. Call Lisa Walburg at 441-4964 for additional information or
see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.
Thank you to Jim and Bev Stegman who have helped with set-up for IHN at
Christ Church for every rotation since St. Catherine became a support church
many years ago. Their hard work has been greatly appreciated by the volunteers
at both churches and by the countless homeless families they have served. Jim
and Bev helped set-up guest rooms on the Sunday before our rotation and we will
need to provide that service with new volunteers starting this next rotation. If
you are interested in helping with the set-up on March 2nd at Christ
Church for about 1 hour please call Lisa Walburg.
SAND VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE
Preliminary
plans are being made to have a Sunday late afternoon/early evening co-ed
volleyball league. Games will be
played on the sand courts in the Boden's side yard.
Depending on how many people are interested, we could have an upper and
lower division. Please call Judy at
781-3810 if you are interested in getting a team together or have any questions
or suggestions. This league will be
sponsored by the Boosters and will be a fun raiser.
There will, however, be some entry fee to cover costs of getting the
courts ready and for officials. The
Bodens have graciously offered their yard for family picnicking and socializing
before and after the games.
ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS
Please submit volunteer hours and committee name for March to
Cheri Hunter by email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com,
phone at 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.
If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those
with the March hours. The hours are reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis
- so you are never too late to report hours.
Thanks again for your help in this matter.
MASS FOR VOCATIONS
to

be a meeting Thursday, April 24th at 6:00 pm in the school
cafeteria. Any high school student interested in playing soccer for NCC in the
08-09 school year, including incoming freshmen, should attend this informational

WALK
"a week-long experience of Benedictine Spirituality" will take place
May 16th - 22nd for women who want to strengthen their
faith and discern their call to serve. If
interested, please contact Sr. Cathy Bauer, OSB at bauerosb@yahoo.com or 859-331-6324.
USE YOUR GIFTS IN SERVICE TO ONE ANOTHER Through your generous gift to the Diocesan Parish Annual Appeal, you can change lives for the better every day, in so many ways, and for a lifetime. Look at the faces of those highlighted in the DPAA brochure. Think about how many more people there may be whose needs cannot be seen. Imagine what it must be like to be scared, confused, and alone. Then ask yourself how you can make a difference. Pray for those served through DPAA funded ministries and for those who served them with compassion and love. Then consider a sacrificial gift to the Appeal, and make your gift with a grateful and glad heart for all God has done for you. Our parish goal is $54,822.00. With monies collected above our goal, our parish hopes to fund some much needed capital improvements. Next weekend we will fill out our DPAA pledge cards together as one Body in Christ. Recognize….your need to give; Reflect….on the challenges; and Respond….in a meaningful way.
INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK will be having it's Annual Meeting & Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, April 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park. Featured speaker: Rev. Charlie Martin, Erlanger Christian Church. Come and join those who share your desire to serve homeless families. RSVP to admin@nkyihn or 431-6840 giving name, number of people & phone number of those attending.
