IN OUR PARISH

One of our Christmas carols has this line: AThen why on earth should we be so sad,/ since our redeemer has made us glad?@  If the beginning of our redemption should keep us from sadness through the year, what about the accomplishment of our redemption?  More and more I say to myself that joy B even in the midst of the battles of life  B is available to me, if I would just remember that the big battle has been fought and won.  ADeath and life have dueled in that extraordinary conflict: the Prince of life, who died, reigns immortal,@ as the Sequence for Easter puts it.  My prayer for you this Easter is that our Lord will remind you, in the midst of the different battles in your lives, that He is risen, and that His desire is for you to experience the new life He has won for you.

Happy Easter!

Fr. Stef

For departing troops

All-powerful and ever-living God, when Abraham left his native land and departed from his people you kept him safe through all his journeys.  Protect these soldiers.  Be their constant companion and their strength in battle, their refuge in every adversity.  Guide them, O Lord, that they may return home in safety.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
