IN OUR PARISH

We welcome to our parish family through baptism: McKenna Kathleen Desmond, daughter of Patrick and Katie Desmond.  May this day be the beginning of a life filled with God's mercy, grace and love, and a future blessed with happiness and hope.

VIRTUS UPDATE   If you volunteer in any way with the children of the parish, please be sure you are current in your virtus training.  If you are not compliant, you will no longer be eligible to volunteer.

ST. CATHERINE SIENA CLUB   will be meeting today, Sunday, November 9th, in McCrystal Hall at 1:00 p.m.   Stop by for some good food and good fun with a great group of people.

STEWARDSHIP FAIR   will be held this weekend in McCrystal Hall after all masses.  Stop down and learn about the many ways you can become involved  with your parish.

HELP FURTHER BEAUTIFY MCCRYSTAL HALL    Plans are currently underway to paint the ceiling in McCrystal Hall on the weekend of December 6th & 7th.  We need volunteers to paint, do prep work and cleanup, as well as donate supplies - rollers, drop cloths, poles, etc.  If you can help out in any way, please contact Charles Dewald at 291-3053 or 7fingers@fuse.net.

THE ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS FAIR IS BACK!  It will be held November 15th & 16th after all masses.  People attending the fair will be able to make donations to one of six agencies in a friend or family member's name.  Please join us in McCrystal Hall.  This is a great opportunity to improve the quality of life for persons locally through your donations.

THANKSGIVING DAY COLLECTION   We will once again be donating our Thanksgiving Day collection of non perishable items to St. Bernard Pantry.  Sister Maddalena and Deacon Dave said they are trying to meet the needs of more than 200 families each month, up from 110 families last year.  Any donation is appreciated, but they did say they are always running low on spaghetti, meat sauce, tuna and peanut butter.  Monetary donations of cash or checks made out to St. Bernard Pantry will also be accepted.

THE WORSHIP COMMITTEE   is introducing a new way to remember and honor a loved one while enlivening our Church.  Floral arrangements can be ordered and placed on the altar to commemorate a specific date or event.  For example, you may wish to order flowers for a 25th wedding anniversary or a loved one’s birthday.  We will announce in the bulletin the donor and event if desired.  To simplify the process, the florist will deliver the arrangement to church and bill you directly.  Call Pat Brennan at 781-2711 to schedule a date.  Thank you!

LAST CHANCE TO HEAR ROSALIND MOSS    international speaker, frequent radio guest on Catholic Answers Live and a co-host on EWTN. Rosalind will be giving her last scheduled talk for Catholic Answers at St. Catherine on Sunday, November 16th from 6-8:30pm .  Tickets are $10, for reservations call 859-441-3438 or email praiseandworship@fuse.net.

ST. CATHERINE PLAYERS AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN OF EDEN   Calling all actors, dancers, singers, and more…the Players invite you to audition for Children of Eden, a musical ride through the biblical book of Genesis, penned by Stephen Schwartz, the lyricist for Godspell and Wicked. Auditions are open to everyone, no experience required, and will take place Sunday, November 30th and Sunday, December 7th, both at 7:30pm in McCrystal Hall. For more information contact Producer Conni Tupes at 859-781-0009.

BE SURE TO READ YOUR OFFERTORY BROCHURE   This week, you will receive a brochure in the mail.  The brochure not only contains information regarding the nature of our Parish Offertory Program, it also contains information on the current giving of our parishioners and the income and expense budget of our parish.  Please carefully study the brochure and note the financial giving recommendations it contains.  These recommendations are categorized by personal income so that they are fair to all.  Next weekend, during Mass, you will receive a Commitment Card and will be asked to indicate your weekly commitment.  Regardless of whether you contribute monthly, quarterly, etc., please indicate the amount that your gift will represent on a weekly basis.  If you have not been using envelopes or checks, please begin to do so.  It is very important for us to know how many members of our parish are actively involved in offering their financial support.  Take time this week to make a conscious effort to examine your spending priorities.  See where our Parish Mission and the Lord’s work are currently placed within them and, then, adjust your priorities as you deem necessary based upon our obligation to support the work of our Church.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY      We have contracted with Guide Book Publishing to publish a Guide Book & Directory for our congregation that will be updated and delivered directly to your homes annually. This book will be the who, what, where, when, why and how of our church.  It is being provided at no cost to us.  Local businesses are being solicited to advertise in the book.  If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in this book, please contact the church office at 441-1352.
