LOOKING FOR AN EASIER WAY TO FULFILL YOUR OFFERTORY COMMITMENT? Having a hard time remembering to bring your donation each Sunday? Want to give back to God from your surplus instead of your leftovers? EFT may be the answer to your dilemma. Your offertory commitment may be fulfilled by having a monthly withdrawal from your checking account through  Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). The withdrawal can take place either on the 15th or the 30th of the month. If you would like more information, please contact Mary Brzinski in the parish office 441-1352 extension 14 or email at mbrzinski@stcatherineofsiena.org.

THANKS TO ALL WHO DONATED TO THIS YEAR'S ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS FAIR   The breakdown of proceeds are as follows:  Be Concerned  $335; Echo/Hosea House  $380; Interfaith Hospitality Network  $281; Madonna House  $335; St. Bernard's Pantry $575; Welcome House  $565.

Total collection & pledges $2,471.  If you would still like to make a donation, please make your check payable to either the organization directly or to St. Catherine if you would like your donation split between multiple organizations.  Jan Hamilton and Mary Beth Schultz were the chairpersons for this event within the parish.  Thank you both for a job well done!

THANKSGIVING DAY COLLECTION   We will once again be donating our Thanksgiving Day collection of non perishable items to St. Bernard Pantry.  Sister Maddalena and Deacon Dave said they are trying to meet the needs of more than 200 families each month, up from 110 families last year.  Any donation is appreciated, but they did say they are always running low on spaghetti, meat sauce, tuna and peanut butter.  Monetary donations of cash or checks made out to St. Bernard Pantry will also be accepted.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS PARTY     Has been canceled.

MARKET DAY    Please check your bulletin for this month's Market Day event scheduled for Thursday December 11th at 6pm . We've raised over $700 for the school and parish so far, with over $70 going to the St. Augustine food pantry.  We get extra money this month for orders of cookie dough as well. Orders are due by Saturday December 7th at noon and can be placed online at marketday.com or by marking the enclosed order sheet and leaving it at the school office by Friday morning December 6th.  Contact Matt Connolly at 750-2385 with any questions or problems.

PARISH JESSE TREE PROJECT   will begin on Saturday, November 29th and continue until Sunday, December 14th.  The liturgical season of Advent is close at hand and with it comes our parish’s annual Jesse Tree project.  The Jesse Tree, a bundle of leafless branches fashioned into a tree, will be located in the church’s prayer/meditation space, bearing ornaments imprinted with gift ideas for individuals and families who would otherwise not receive gifts.  If you would like to take part in the project, take an ornament tag from the tree, purchase the item indicated, and return the item to the Jesse Tree area by December 14.  Details to follow in the next bulletin.

DO YOU HAVE SOME FREE TIME ON FRIDAY MORNINGS?    St. Catherine's new Familia group is looking for babysitters for their meetings.  Familia is a faith study that allows mothers to get together with other mothers with young children to learn more about the Catholic faith.  We are in need of sitters for the following Fridays from 10:00 a.m. - noon : December 5 and December 19.  Our meetings take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Ft Thomas. There will be approximately 5 - 7 one and two year olds each week.  If you are willing to donate your time for one of these Fridays, please email mariabozeman@hotmail.com or call (404)798-1071.

ST. CATHERINE PLAYERS AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN OF EDEN    Calling all actors, dancers, singers, and more…the Players invite you to audition for Children of Eden, a musical ride through the biblical book of Genesis. Auditions are open to everyone, no experience required, and will take place Sunday, November 30th and Sunday, December 7th, both at 7:30pm in McCrystal Hall. For more information contact Producer Conni Tupes at 859-781-0009.

HELP HOMELESS FAMILIES   through the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) Monday-Wednesday, December 1st, 2nd & 3rd.  Assistance is needed in transporting families in the IHN van to and from Christ Church and the Day Center in Newport , preparing a meal, hosting a meal and spending the night. This is a great way for families and individuals to work together in service. New volunteers will be paired with experienced helpers so don’t let inexperience keep you from answering the call. Call Mindy Hoarston at 547-8415 for additional information or see the sign-up posters at the Rossford Avenue exit of church.

(2107-0070.tif)CHRISTMAS MEMORIAL FLOWERS    Remember a loved one by placing flowers in the church during the Christmas season.  Please use the envelope from your packet for this occasion.  List the name of the person to be remembered and their name will then be listed in our Memorial Book which will be located in the back of Church during the Christmas season.

UPDATE MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION    Does the church have your family membership record correct?  It is time for us to update our database with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in your family over the past year.  Have you changed your phone number?  Have you moved or are you planning to move soon?  Are all of your children still at home and are they all included in your  membership record?   Here is your chance to update your record for our annual Guide Book & Directory.  If you have not already informed the church office about any changes to your record, please let us know now so that the information in the new Guide Book is correct.

IN OUR DIOCESE

REFLECTIONS AND CAROLS   This is your invitation to enter into the spirit of Advent!  A special prayer service will be held on Monday, December 1st, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Church in Alexandria .  The time together includes special music by Jim Wolfe as well as the proclamation of the Sunday Advent gospels.  Four parishioners will reflect on an Advent Gospel.

ALUMNAE MEMORIAL MASS      The Notre Dame Academy Alumnae Association will once again be remembering deceased alumnae at its Fifth annual NDA Alumnae Memorial Mass and Reception.  The Memorial Mass, scheduled for Monday, December 8th at 7:30 P.M. , will be held at the Sisters of Notre Dame Provincial House, adjacent to Notre Dame Academy ’s parking lot.  The Mass will be followed by a reception.  In an effort to memorialize as many deceased alumnae as possible, we need your help.  If you would like a deceased NDA alumna to be remembered, please submit her name to the Notre Dame Development Department. Special invitations will be sent out to the family members of the deceased alumnae who have passed away this calendar year, but ALL alumnae are encouraged to attend.  The deadline to submit the names of the deceased is November 28th.  Questions regarding the Mass can be directed to Taffy Hebbeler, Alumnae Coordinator, at 859.292.1852 or hebbert@ndapandas.org.

CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING AT FLORENCE MALL   Beginning November 28, 2008 and continuing thru December 24, 2008 Interfaith Hospitality Network will be wrapping gifts at Florence Mall.   We do not know the site as yet.    WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS AND  ASSISTANT COORDINATORS.  If you would like to volunteer to work a shift or to take a day to supervisor the gift wrap please contact Bill & Ruth Chestnut at (859)282-8586 or Betsy Evans at (859)441-2785. We can use you in at least two hour increments and are encouraging churches to volunteer for a whole day.   Youth groups should have one adult for each 4 youths.  All of the proceeds benefit Interfaith Hospitality Network, which houses homeless families of Northern Kentucky by using churches to provide sleeping quarters and meals. Please consider volunteering to help this very worthy cause.
