 IN OUR PARISH

BELIZE GROUP 2008     Last week there was a notice that the money left over from the mission trip was  going toward a parish project.  Since this was not the purpose for which the money was given, we will not transfer its use to anything else.  Whatever we do with the money, it will have something to do with Belize or another mission trip.

INSPIRATIONAL CD’S     Fr. Stef’s September homilies are now available on CD in the back of church.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTER AND SERVER SCHEDULES    The new schedules are finished and available for pick up in the back of church.  Please pick up your schedule today.

THE MANY FACES OF PRO-LIFE NEWSPAPER AD SIGN UP TODAY   Signatures will be taken after all masses this weekend for a multi-page ad that will appear in the Kentucky Enquirer in January to mark the 36th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion. Bishop Foys invites you to join him and list your name as a Face of Pro-Life!

ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS     St. Elizabeth has changed their method of reporting volunteer hours.  They would like each volunteer to report their own hours on the St. Elizabeth website, www.stelizabeth.com. If you would like a copy of the instructions and have not received one, please call Cheri Hunter at 781-4507, drop a note in the Health Ministry box, or email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com.  Thank you.

LOVE BOAT ’09 NEEDS YOU!    This successful parish fundraiser can only continue with the help of many people.  If you are interested in volunteering for this fun and profitable event, please contact Ken Farney at 781-4216.  There will be a planning meeting held on Monday, October 27th at 7pm in the library.  The Love Boat raises almost as much as our summer festival does, so it is important to the parish to keep it going.  Everyone is encouraged and welcomed to volunteer.

WOMEN OF THE PARISH    The St. Catherine Men's Group invites you to the Fifth Annual Women's Dinner on Saturday, November 1st, at 7:00 pm in McCrystal Hall, featuring the most unique dining and entertainment experience hosted by the finest men of the Parish. CHRP WOMEN'S RETREAT - SAVE THE DATE!      CHRP Group #3 invites the ladies of the parish for a weekend of spiritual renewal and camaraderie. IN OUR DIOCESE

SEMINARIAN EDUCATION FUND COLLECTION   A vocation to the priesthood is an answer to Jesus’ call to participate in His work.  Christ is the one who calls.  Our Seminarians have courageously responded to God’s call, but they also need the support and prayers of the people they hope to serve.  It is from within the Church - the community of hope and faith - that these men find the love, support, and courage they need to complete their journey and walk totally in the ways of the Lord.  Estimated Diocesan cost for providing our seminarians with tuition, books, room and board, health insurance, living allowances, and retreats for the coming year will amount to nearly $740,000.  You can help by making and immediate gift to the Seminarian Education Fund.  Please pray daily for our seminarians and for an increase in vocation to the priesthood.

HOLY TRINITY HOLIDAY BAZAAR   to be held on Saturday, November 1st from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. 840 Washington Ave. , Newport .  Many local crafters & concessions.   Admission is $1.00.

YOUTH 2000 IS BACK!        Join hundreds of Catholic youth at Thomas More College November 21st – 23rd for an amazing weekend of energy, fellowship, and prayer.  There will be live music, great food, and super preaching from the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.  Free T-shirt if registered by November 8th.  Jesus will be there.  Will you?  Ages 13-17 must be chaperoned by a Virtus-compliant adult aged 21 or older.   A chaperon can take up to 7 minors.  Two or more adults may share chaperone duties and split the cost; each must register.  For full details, go to www.nkyouth.com.

ELSEWHERE

TO THOSE OF YOU LOOKING FOR COLLEGES     there are a couple of opportunities you might want to consider.  Thomas More College is continuing two programs for Catholic students.  The first program they call Parochial Promise.  This program guarantees Catholic high school graduates a minimum of $10,000 every year for four years if they if they are unconditionally accepted to Thomas More College.  Another program, called the Catholic Covenant Award, guarantees that a Catholic student who is a member of a Catholic parish but does not attend a Catholic high school will receive a minimum award of $7,000 every year for four years.                                                                                                                                                            Brescia University in Owensboro has instituted what they call the Catholic Connection Grant.  This is a grant to graduates of a private Catholic high school or to public high school graduates, who have their pastor=s recommendation.  To quote from their letter, AThis discount is valued at 50% of tuition per year provided that the student lives on campus and does not combine the grant with other institutional aid.  State and federal financial aid is still available to those who qualify.@

CAMPBELL LODGE BOYS' HOME   Spaghetti Dinner to be held on Sunday, Nov. 9th from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the gym at Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home.  Dine in or carry out available. Volunteers needed. For more info, call 859-781-1214 x114 or visit www.clbh.org.

“FUN”-DING THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER    Chicks & Chucks, Inc. will host its 4th Annual Event, “Ring in the Holidays with Chicks & Chucks, Inc.” on Saturday, November 15th at the Southgate Community Center from 8:00 a.m. - midnight .  There will be music by Fast Forward, raffles, door prizes and more!  Chicks & Chucks has assisted numerous individuals in their fight against breast cancer by purchasing wigs, prosthetics, bras and mammograms for many women in our local area.  Most recently, they have provided funding for the purchase of resource books for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and their families.  All of this success has been made possible through your generous contributions and support.  If you would like to donate an item for the auction or make a monetary donation, please contact Cathy Halloran at 781-3097.  Be sure to mark your calendar for November 15th to come and enjoy an evening of music and fun while supporting a great cause!

HELP THE HOMELESS AND IT IS EASY!      The ECHO Kitchen at the Hosea House started a program last year where they distribute $5.00 gift cards from fast food restaurants to the homeless in the winter so they can get warm for awhile.  AT the present, there are no shelters in N. Ky.   If you would like to donate a $5.00 card, call Cheri Hunter at 781-4507.
