SCRIP ANNOUNCEMENT Gail Williams and Kathy Saalfeld have decided to turn over the reins of the Scrip program. Gail began the program for us back in the mid 1990's, when it was just Kroger and Johnny’sToys and one other vendor. Five years ago, when we expanded the program to what it is today, Kathy joined her. Kathy and Gail have put a lot of work into Scrip, and have helped the parish tremendously. I cannot thank them enough for their work, and I hope you will thank them as well. Catherine Ampfer and Jenny Cox have agreed to take over the program. They should have the reins by mid-January, and I thank them for their willingness to commit themselves to such a task.
If
you are not a Scrip user, why not start? Kroger
and Remke, all the major gas vendors, restaurants, retail stores, we have it
all. It is a tremendous and
extremely easy way of helping the parish financially. Call the office or stop in
to get started. Tell ‘em Stef
sent you and get a free smile from the friendliest parish secretaries in the
diocese. Fr. Stef
BURNING
OF THE GREENS Be sure to save your Christmas tree for the Men's Group's
annual Burning of the
Greens! This family-fun event will be held on the Bodens' volleyball court below
the Parish Center on Sunday, February 3 at 6:00 p.m. Please drop off your tree
behind the trash receptacles in the lower parking lot or call Dave Barth
(441-0194) to arrange for pick-up from your home.
2007 – 2008 DPAA UPDATE
Our goal for 2007 was $56,178, our pledges totaled $68,767.63.
To date, the diocese has received $59,445.63. St. Catherine just recently
received a check in the amount of $3,267.63 representing the amount over the
goal received, which will go toward capital improvements. Please remember
if you've pledged, continue to make your payments as our parish is now receiving
100% of the funds collected by the diocese. Thank you, Mary Brzinski
CHRISTMAS
FLOWERS We are grateful to the generosity of all those contributing
to the Christmas decorations
inside and outside of church. Many people donated money, time and talent to
create a beautiful place of worship. Thank you!
Mary Kay Connolly

THANK YOU to all who made Christmas Masses so beautiful.
I hope I don’t forget anyone, but Mary Kay Connolly, Karen Walz, Ken
Greis and members of their families decorated inside; the Metzners and the
Hans’s put up the crib; Tim and Chris Reynolds and Ben Dorger put up the
lights outside, and they, along with Stan, of course, cleaned up the leaves to
make the place more presentable for the holidays.
Tom and Kathy Saalfeld again supplied all of the Christmas trees from
their farm. Of course, our
liturgies happen with the participation of the different musicians – thank
you, Denise, for bringing in the brass quintet; choir, for your singing not only
at midnight but also at 10:00 a.m. Christmas day; the children’s choir and the
cantors – ; the lectors, servers, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist,
and ushers – thank you, especially, ushers, for helping us squeeze 746 people
plus babies into the worship space on Christmas Eve.
Thank you to the Worship Committee, who talked about and planned the
services of the season, and who will spend time critiquing them to make them
better next year; and especially Judy Leick, our chair, who oversaw everything.
Thanks to Bob Rottgers, who helped me as unofficial MC for the different
services. Finally, a special thank
you to my office staff. Teresa,
Tara and Mary take care of many, many things for me, so that I have some chance
of preparing myself for these special services.
If I have missed anyone, please forgive me. If any of you know someone I have missed, please let me know,
so that I can rectify the error.
What I most hope is that all of you will thank these folks
yourselves. If you have never been
part of the Worship Committee or the music or helped prepare the space or
liturgies for celebrations like these, you have no idea of the amount of work
and thought and time – and sometimes worry and arguing – that goes into
them. Especially in this season of
gift giving, let us practice gratitude for these folks who, while still needing
to prepare their own houses and celebrate with their own families, took the time
to work for us. Fr. Stef
