IN OUR PARISH
OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY
goes out to the family of Bill Venable, whose funeral was held at St.
Catherine last week. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
WE WELCOME to our parish family through baptism:
Max A. McNay, son of John and Stephanie.
May God's light always shine upon him.
SOCIAL LIFE WELCOME BREAKFAST The next welcome breakfast for new members of the parish will be held on Sunday, September 30th after the 9:00 a.m. mass. (There has been a change from the original date of September 16th.) Mark you calendars and stop by to have breakfast and meet the newest members of our parish family
MASS TIME CHANGES Friday morning masses will continue to be at 8:00 a.m., even during the school year. Also, Wednesday mass will now be in the evening at 7:00 p.m. instead of 8:00 a.m. This is a great opportunity for families to be able to attend mass together during the week. It also gives those of you who are unable to attend mass in the morning a chance to worship during the week. Please take note that any meetings taking place on Wednesdays may not begin until after mass. Also, if you are scheduled to serve a Wednesday mass, it will be at 7:00 p.m. (not 8:00 a.m. as stated on the server schedule).
HOMILIES ON CD
Fr. Stef’s August homilies are now available on CD and can
be picked up in the back of church or in the parish office.
MARK
YOUR CALENDARS FOR PARISH FEST
This
year’s parish fest will be held on Saturday, September 29th
after 4:30 mass in the lower parking. Make
plans to come and socialize with fellow parishioners.
More details to follow.
THE
“ART” OF PRAYING by
Fr. Stef Bankemper will be presented on Sunday, October 7th at
7:00 p.m. in church. Using varied
art pieces, including those created by Sr. Marie Pierre Semler of New York, Fr.
Stef will guide us through prayer and meditations that flow from art.
The art will be on display in McCrystal Hall prior to the talk from 4:00
- 7:00 p.m.
ATTENTION
HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS Please
submit volunteer hours and committee name for August to Cheri Hunter by
email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com,
phone at 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.
If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those
with the May hours. The hours are
reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis
- so you are never too late to report hours.
Thanks again for your help in this matter.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
St. Catherine School collects Box Tops for Education which appear on
most General Mills, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Go-Gurt, Trix Yogurt and Zip Loc
products, just to name a few. For a
complete list of products, please visit www.boxtops4education.com.
The school receives 10 cents for each box top – these really add up!
They can be turned in to the school office, or you may drop them off in
the box at the Rossford Ave. church entrance.
Thanks for your support.
PRAYER
GARDEN Our
prayer garden is in need of a little TLC. Come
and help clean up this area and make it a beautiful place for prayer and
meditation. This is a great
way to earn service hours and to be a good steward of the church.
If you would like to volunteer to help, contact Sandy Nagel - 441-6743.
COMPUTER TECH SUPPORT Do you have any programming knowledge with the Linux Operating Systems? If so, we could use your stewardship of time in helping us to program some needed changes on the school server. Please contact Doug Lonneman if you can help in any way.
WHAT
IS RCIA? The
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the sacramental formation
process that prepares individuals for a particular way of life - as a member of
the Roman Catholic Church. Conversion is at the heart of that way of life.
The initiation of new members can only take place within the context of a
community of believers. The initiation of adults is the responsibility of
all the baptized. How can parish members become involved in the RCIA process?
One of the most essential parts of the formation process is the identification
of candidates. This is one instance where members of our faith community
play a vital role. Is there someone in your life who has expressed an
interest in knowing more about our faith? Do you have a spouse, neighbor,
co-worker, or anyone who has spoken with you about this subject? Ninety
percent of our candidates come from referrals of parish members. If you
have someone in your life that would like to consider the possibility of
becoming a Catholic, please call or have the potential candidate call the parish
office (441-1352), Jeff Rosenstiel (803-3434), or Paul Meisenhelder (491-9455).
The RCIA classes begin on Thursday, September 20th, at 7:30
p.m. in the room next to the school library. Please reach out to potential
candidates and encourage them to make the call or volunteer to do so for them.
DIOCESAN VOCATION PROGRAM On Tuesday evening, September 11th, at 7:00pm at St. Henry Parish, there will be a meeting for parish vocation committees, organizations or anyone interested in helping with vocation programs in the diocese. If you would like more information please call Fr. Gregory Bach at 859-322-7053.
BLUE
MASS The
Bishop Malloy Council of the Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a special mass on
Tuesday, September 11th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Church.
All police, fire fighters, EMS workers and those serving in the military
will be recognized for all they do for us everyday. The goal is to have representation from all of the parishes
in at least Campbell County. Come
and say thanks to those who do so much for all of us.
FUN-DING
THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER sponsored
by Chicks and Chucks, Inc, to be held on Saturday, September 15th
from 7:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. at Newport Central Catholic.
Cost is $20 per person and includes food, soft drinks and door
prizes. A cash bar will be
available. All of the proceeds will
assist breast cancer patients and their families in our local community.
Come for a fun filled evening with live and silent auctions, split the
pot and much more!
HALO
PASTA FAIR to
be held at the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home on Sunday, September
16th from 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. Cost
for dinner is $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children.
Take-outs are available. Any
questions, call 727-4369 or 331-4583.
