 IN OUR PARISH

MASS TIME CHANGES   Friday morning masses will continue to be at 8:00 a.m., even during the school year.  Also, beginning September 5th, there will be no Wednesday morning mass - instead there will be a 7:00 p.m. mass every Wednesday evening.  Please take note that any meetings taking place on Wednesdays may not begin until after mass.  Also, if you are scheduled to serve a Wednesday mass, it will be at 7:00 p.m. (not 8:00 a.m. as stated on the server schedule).

SCRIP NEWS    Remember scrip for all those last minute back to school needs.  Now that school is starting, we are looking for a few volunteers to sell Scrip on the school steps at the end of the day.  Anyone interested in helping out during the week or after mass on the weekends, call Kathy Saalfeld at 781-2802.  Your help would be greatly appreciated!

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY    Interfaith Hospitality Network needs volunteers for our next rotation at Christ Church on August 27th, 28th & 29th.  The sign-up poster will be at the Rossford Avenue exit of church beginning August 11. Please help bring the Light of Christ to a homeless family by sharing a little of your time, love and caring. Call Lisa Walburg at 441-4964 for more information or to volunteer.

SCHOOL PTO MEETING   Please join us for the first school PTO meeting of the 2007-2008 school year on Tuesday, August 28th.  Come and hear what is in store for this year and share your ideas.  The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in McCrystal Hall with social time beginning at 7:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get to know other parents and to keep up to date on school events and activities.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST    Sponsored by the Foresters and the Belize Mission Group will be held on Sunday, September 2nd in McCrystal Hall after the 9:00 a.m. mass.  Free will donations will be accepted to support the Belize mission trip.  Stop by after mass, (or before 11:30 mass), and enjoy a delicious breakfast with fellow parishioners while supporting a worthy cause!

CCD PROGRAM     St. Catherine’s CCD Program will hold its opening on Sunday, September 9th.  Class begins for parents and students at 10:15 a.m.  Please do not be late!  A welcoming reception will follow in the gym.  Contact David Kohrs at kohrssd@fuse.net or 441-1069 with any questions.

SAVE THE DATE   The next Women's CRHP weekend is September 8th & 9th and is open to all women of the parish.  The next Men's CRHP Weekend will be September 22nd & 23rd and is open to all men of the parish.  Prayerfully consider this opportunity to renew yourself and the parish.  Anyone interested or for more information please contact Rob Hans (men) at 441-5430 or rlhans@fuse.net or Sheila Carroll (women) at 491-8771.

ADULT CHOIR   Anyone interested in joining the St. Catherine adult choir, please contact music director, Denise Dirkes, at 441-1352, ext. 15.  The choir practices on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m.  The first practice will be held on September 6th.

WHAT IS RCIA?   The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the sacramental formation process that prepares individuals for a particular way of life - as a member of the Roman Catholic Church.  Conversion is at the heart of that way of life.  The initiation of new members can only take place within the context of a community of believers.  The initiation of adults is the responsibility of all the baptized. How can parish members become involved in the RCIA process? One of the most essential parts of the formation process is the identification of candidates.  This is one instance where members of our faith community play a vital role.  Is there someone in your life who has expressed an interest in knowing more about our faith?  Do you have a spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or anyone who has spoken with you about this subject?  Ninety percent of our candidates come from referrals of parish members.  If you have someone in your life that would like to consider the possibility of becoming a Catholic, please call or have the potential candidate call the parish office (441-1352), Jeff Rosenstiel (803-3434), or Paul Meisenhelder (491-9455).  The RCIA classes begin on Thursday, September 20th, at 7:30 p.m. in the room next to the school library.  Please reach out to potential candidates and encourage them to
make the call or volunteer to do so for them.

"TO THE PEOPLE OF ST. CATHERINE   I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks for inviting me to play this summer.  The people of the parish could not have been more welcoming, open and involved.  Your community truly demonstrates core Christian models, to lead by example.  I am grateful to Fr. Stef, the choir and Tom Wilson for their guidance and help during my masses.  You are blessed with wonderful leaders!  I am confident the years to come will be prosperous for this parish.  Thank you for letting me be a small part of that success!"        Seth D. Cutter

THANKS TO ALL   who contributed to the collection for the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament.  We collected over $2100.00 for this mission.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
