IN OUR PARISH

PLEASE NOTE    Father Stef will be out of town from Sunday, July 22nd, (after masses) through Saturday, August 4th.   

MISSION APPEAL    Next weekend we will welcome Rev. Dante Mejillano SSS of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament to our parish.  He comes to St. Catherine as part of the Missionary Co-operative Plan that takes place each year in all of the (Arch)Dioceses of our country.  The Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament does evangelization work in much of Asia, especially Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines as well as in the Congo and Uganda in Africa. There will be a second collection taken to support these efforts.

TEEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED    Vacation Bible School, August 6th -10th, is in need of volunteers from 7th-12th grade.  This is a great way to earn service hours.  If you are able to help out, please call Heather Stuempel at 781-6122 or Patty Chalk at 441-0560. 

25TH AND 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MASS     for the diocese will be held on Sunday, September 16th.  If you are celebrating you 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2007 and would like to receive an invitation to this special mass, please call the parish office at 441-1352 by Wednesday, August 1st.  Contacting the office is not a reservation it will just put you on the list to receive an invitation from the diocese. 

FAMILIES WITH INCOMING FIRST GRADERS   Parish families with children entering the first grade of the public school system for 2007 - 2008 should register those children for the CCD program as soon as possible.  Information and registration forms may be downloaded from the parish website.  Questions should be directed to David Kohrs at kohrssd@fuse.net or 441-1069. 

ICE CREAM SOCIAL    sponsored by the Foresters will be held after the 11:30 Mass on July 29th in McCrystal Hall. All are welcome to come. If you attend another mass that week, come back about 12:30 and join in the fun!  

CAFETERIA WORKERS NEEDED   Anyone interested in working in the Cafeteria this coming school year, please call Judy Leick at 781-3890.  Report time is 10:45 and depending on whether you stay for lunch you can be finished by 12:30.  The kids love seeing a familiar face, (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle) during lunch so if interested give me a call.  You only have to work once a month. 

ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS   please submit volunteer hours and committee name for June to Cheri Hunter by phone (781-4507), email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com , or leave a note in box by parking lot door. If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those with the June ours. The hours are now reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis – so you are never too late to report hours. Thanks again for your help in this matter.

ATTENTION CROSS COUNTRY RUNNERS   Any 6th, 7th or 8th grade students interested in running cross-country with St. Therese please call Joe Nessler at 781-5717 or Yalonda Phillips at 572-9840.  Practice will begin Tuesday, July 24th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Southgate Community Center.

ST. ANN NOVENA    held at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1274 Parkway Ave. Covington, July 18th - 26th.  Novena prayers begin at 7:00 pm, Novena mass at 7:15 p.m.  After novena prayers each evening there will be individual blessings with a relic of St. Ann.  Confession will also be offered several of the evenings.  For more information, call 261-9548. 

YARD SALE    St. Timothy Parish parking lot, Saturday, August 4th, 8am - 2pm.  Part of the world's longest yard sale.  Rental $10 space/ $5 table to benefit school in Zambia. NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC    will host its 24th Annual Alumni Thoroughbred Cross Country 2-Mile Run on Saturday, August 11th at 10:00 a.m. on the school's campus.  The run is open to all alumni and their spouses.  You need not have been a cross-country runner to enter.  A “FunRun” for kids will be held at 9:30 a.m. with all participants receiving ribbons.  The run will be followed by lunch.  A medal ceremony will also be held for the top seven finishers.  For more information, contact Dave Ueding at 292-0001. 

ELSEWHERE 

HEALING MASS    Come and experience Jesus' healing power in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.  There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, and prayers for healing will be available after Mass, followed with Benediction.  To be held Wednesday, July 25th at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, 5440 Moeller Ave., Norwood.  Rosary is at 6:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 7:15 p.m. 

IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS   CareNet Pregnancy Services of Northern Kentucky seeking volunteers to help young pregnant women who enter their centers seeking counsel for an unplanned pregnancy. Won’t you consider being the hands and feet of Christ in this community by ministering to those facing the fear of an unplanned pregnancy? There are opportunities in Florence, Covington, Williamstown and our new Highland Heights Campus location as Receptionists, Advocates, and Mentor Moms. EUCHARISTIC MINISTER VOLUNTEER PROGRAM   at the St. Luke Hospitals is need of volunteers to serve either on an ongoing basis or on their substitute list.  Receiving the Eucharist while in the hospital can be a great source of comfort to patients.  Becoming a Eucharistic Minister is very easy and requires minimal training.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Angela Campbell at 572-3207.
