ATTENTION HEALTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS   Please submit volunteer hours and committee name for May to Cheri Hunter by email at cheri_hunter2000@yahoo.com, phone at 781-4507, or leave a note in the box by the parking lot door.  If you have any unreported hours from other months, just submit those with the May hours.  The hours are reported to St. Elizabeth on a quarterly basis  - so you are never too late to report hours.  Thanks again for your help in this matter.

 SERVICE OPPORTUNITY    Interfaith Hospitality Network needs volunteers for our next rotation on June 25^th, 26^th, and 27^th. The sign up poster is at the Rossford Avenue exit of church beginning June 9. Please consider volunteering and inviting a friend to come along.  DPAA PROGRESS 2007    As you may know, as of May 29, 2007, we have officially exceeded our diocesan goal of $56,178.  We reached $57,881 with the participation of 240 families.  Our parish goal is still $100,000 to help fund some capital repairs on the parish property.  So, if you haven’t yet made a pledge, there is still time.  Thank you for your support of this parish.  We can’t function without you.

NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC    varsity cheerleaders will be having a yard sale at NCC on Saturday, June 23^rd from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Proceeds from the sale will be used to help pay for cheerleading camp.

MARY DALE SUMMER RETREATS   The first retreat will be held June 22^nd - 24^th.  This weekend will provide you an opportunity to immerse yourself in an exploration of the lively, stimulating and sometimes challenging teachings of Fr. Anthony De Mello, S.J.  The retreat director will be nationally renowned Retreat Master, Fr. Jim Dolan, S.J.  His theme will be “Jesus’ Favorite Prayer – Visiting”.  The program will include meditations, group sharing and free time for rest and relaxation. The suggested offering of $145.00 includes two overnights and 5 meals.  There will also be a men’s silent retreat held August 24^th – 26^th.  The retreat director will be Fr. Phillip DeVous.  His theme will be “Living in the Light of Christ: The Luminous Mysteries of Salvation”.  Check-in begins at 5pm Friday evening and concludes at approximately noon on Sunday. The suggested offering is $110.00 for the two-night stay and 5 meals.  Please call Marydale at 371-4224 to register for either weekend. 

THE ST. THERESE SUMMER FESTIVAL   will be held on  Friday, June 29^th and Saturday, June 30^th from 6:00 - 11:00 p.m.  Please plan to attend our weekend of fun with friends and family. We will have many games, raffles and activities for all ages to enjoy.  For everyone’s enjoyment we will have an expanded variety of food available at the grill both nights.  There will be a major raffle, 1st prize $2,000.00, 2nd prize $1,000.00 and five $100.00 winners.  A free shuttle bus will be available from 6:00 to 10:30 both nights from the South Hill Medical Center located at 525 Alexandria Pike in Southgate.

ELSEWHERE

A CARING PRESENCE    The St. Luke Hospitals are introducing a new support group for patients and their caregivers who are dealing with chronic illnesses.  The focus of the group will be to meet the spiritual needs of these patients and their caregivers, and to help them through their difficult time.  The group will meet from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the waiting area of the St. Luke East Cancer Treatment Center. (This month’s meeting is on this Tuesday, June 12^th.)  If you have any questions about this program, you can call Debbie Truesdell at 781-2143.

SAVE THE DATE   St Charles Care Center is hosting their first Golf Outing on August 30^th, at Twin Oaks Golf Course in Latonia. There will be a shotgun Start, Best Ball Scramble. The cost is $85 per Person, which includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, buffet dinner, beer and soft drinks. Prizes and dinner immediately following golf. 9^TH ANNUAL NORTHERN KY/FT. THOMAS FINE ARTS FESTIVAL   A showcase for local and regional artists and musicians.  Original artwork ranging from paintings, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, photography and beyond will be for show and sale in Tower Park on Sunday, June 24^th from noon – 6:00 p.m.  Event activities include live music by featured local acts, performances by SMA Cloggers, children’s art and music workshops conducted by local artists throughout the day.  For more information contact Adam at 441-3838.
