ST.
CATHERINE’S FEAST DAY The feast of our patroness,
St. Catherine of Siena, is approaching. To celebrate we are planning a talk
with a reception afterward, next Sunday, April 29th at 7:00 p.m. For the
talk, we have asked Fr. Stef to discuss/explain some of the architectural
details of our church building and worship space. For instance, why is
there a crown of thorns over the worship space? Why does it have hearts
and fleur-de-lis on it? Why did the architect choose the saints he did for
the back window? After the talk we will gather downstairs for dessert and
coffee. We envision it as a kind of pot-luck dessert affair. Bring
your favorite dessert and let's make something of our patroness' feast day.
INSPIRATIONAL

DIOCESAN
PARISH ANNUAL APPEAL Next weekend after we hear a taped message
from Bishop Foys, we will, together as a parish family, complete our pledge
cards in support of DPAA funded ministries and the people they serve. A
successful Appeal brings Jesus’ love, hope and comfort to tens of thousands of
men, women, and children each year. Your gift provides help to the poor,
the disabled, the sick and to families in crisis. It will help the Church
educate our seminarians, deacons, school children, and children in parish
religious education programs. It will declare the dignity of life at all
stages and feed and shelter those in need. This is your opportunity to
join a unified effort to further the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ.
Together we can answer Jesus’ call to “Feed my Sheep”. St.
Catherine’s share of the 2007 DPAA goal of $1,958,000 is $56,178.00. One
hundred percent of all monies collected over our goal will be returned to our
parish. Please read the DPAA newsletter enclosed in this bulletin, and
come to mass next weekend prepared to make a sacrificial gift.

SUPPORT
FOR OUR TROOPS The 478th Engineering Battalion from Ft. Thomas, as
well as a unit from the reserve center in Ashland, will be deployment to Iraq
sometime at the end of May. The Family Readiness Group at the
Ft. Thomas army reserve center is holding a “Meet and Greet” event for all
the soldiers and their families. There are 400 soldiers, including their
families, so there could be as many as 1600 people at this event.
The Readiness Group is asking all Ft. Thomas churches to help them feed these
very deserving soldiers and their families with baked goods. They also
need table workers to replenish the baked goods, artists to paint the
children’s faces and a clown to entertain them. The event will be held
on Saturday, May 5th from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Ft. Thomas Reserve
Center. If you can help out by supplying baked goods and/or working,
please contact Kelly Lavendar at 441-1114.
COME CELEBRATE The Staff and Boards of Catholic Social Services and Parish Kitchen invite everyone to celebrate 75 years of Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Covington on Sunday, May 6th at 3:00 p.m. at a mass offered by Most Rev. Bishop Roger J. Foys at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. There will be a reception immediately following in the Cathedral Gardens.
