There’s something to that famous line “Although it’s been said many times, many ways…” I sit here trying to find a new way to wish you Merry Christmas, and this thought occurs to me: it doesn’t have to be new, it has to be heartfelt. NEW HYMNALS    Many of you may have noticed the new hymnals in church.  However, you may not have noticed that they include the readings for Sunday mass.  Now, you can follow along with the readings, if you choose. 

PLEASE TAKE NOTE   Due to the upcoming holidays, any submissions for the January 5th/6th bulletin must be received by Wednesday, December 26th.  Thank you for your attention to this matter. 

CHRISTMAS MEMORIAL FLOWERS    Many of you have chosen to remember a loved one by donating to the fund for Christmas flowers.  The names of those remembered are listed in our Memorial Book, which will be located in the back of Church during the Christmas season. 

GIFT BEARERS        The new schedule for gift bearers will be run very soon.  If anyone would like to be added to or deleted from the list please call the Parish Office.  If interested please specify what mass you would prefer.  Once the dates are determined a post card will be sent out with your assignment(s).  A master schedule can be found in the Ushers room and names are listed in the bulletin weekly.  If you have a problem with your assignment please switch with a family on another week. 

Thanks to all those who bought gift certificates during the holiday season.  For your last minute needs, scrips will be sold after all masses this weekend and in the parish office Monday until noon.  Thanks again for your patronage to this program. 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED   to help clean the church once a month.  Our dedicated cleaning crew is in need of a few more helpers.  They meet on the first Thursday of the month immediately after 8:00 a.m. mass and are usually finished around 10:00 a.m. This is not only a great stewardship opportunity, but also a chance to get to know some of your fellow parishioners better.  If you would like to join this wonderful group, please call the parish office, 441-1352. 

PRE-K RELIGION     now is the time to sign up your 3-5 year old for Pre-K Religion.  Enrollment forms can be found at the back of Church following mass this Sunday or in the school office with Betsy Stegner.  Classes will begin the first Sunday in January during the 9am mass time.  We hope to see you there.  Any questions call Candace Doepker 859-572-0113.  

STRUGGLING WITH A TEACHING OF THE CHURCH?    Fr. Mike Comer will share his own “Journey Into Faithfulness” on Sunday, January 6th at 7:00 pm. You are not alone in trying to make hard to grasp teachings of the Church your own, priests struggle also. In refreshing honesty, Father Comer will give a profound witness of his own struggles. JR. HIGH PLAY      Tickets are on sale for the St. Catherine Junior High production of the Wizard of Oz.  Performance dates January 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th and 19th with dinner performances on Jan 12th and Jan 19th.  Cost for show is $5.00.  Cost for dinner and show is $15.00.  For tickets call Sue Ann Freeman 859-442-7558. 

WOMEN’S RETREAT      Ladies, mark your calendars!  Feb. 22 -24, 2008, Fr. Ray Stratman will be leading us on a spiritual journey.  His theme:  “STOP! It's time to be a Mary rather than a Martha; LOOK! Through the eyes of faith, see how much God loves you; LISTEN! The Holy Spirit has words for you to hear.”  We start with dinner on Friday and usually end around noon on Sunday.  Suggested donation is $115.  Please call Jennie Cox (441-4322) or Pat Brennan (781-2711) and let us know as soon as possible that you will be attending...We fill up fast!!!  Last year we had 35 women - let's see if we can increase that number - You won't be disappointed.  See you there!!! 

BRANSON BUS TRIP   St. Catherine Senior Travel Group is planning a day bus trip to Branson, Missouri from April 27th – May 3rd 2008. The Cost is $595, which includes transportation, accommodations, 10 meals, tips and shows. Please call JoAnn 781-3847 or Lois 781-2232.

 

AN INVITATION   If you are confined to home and are unable to attend Mass, (even if it’s just temporary), please call the parish office, 441-1352, if you’d like to receive Holy Communion in your home.  One of our Parish Ministries - Outreach to the Homebound - is waiting to bring the Eucharist to you, a family member, or even your neighbor.  We know that this is a need waiting to be filled, but we must first hear from you.  So please accept this invitation and allow us to share the Living Bread - the Body of Jesus with you.
