IN OUR PARISH
THE LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR wish to thank St Catherine Church, for giving them the opportunity to visit this parish. They also wanted to express their gratitude for the generous donation of $1,388.02, which they collected after all Masses. This gift will enable the Sisters to continue their work in providing for the needs of their 94 elderly residents. They also ask that we keep them, as well as their residents, in our prayers and they in turn will continue to pray for the people and needs of our parish.
CALLING
ALL WHITE GLOVE GURUS Come
clean God’s house! Before the
Advent season begins, we would like to get our church in spic and span
condition. If you would like to pitch in and help with this project,
please call the parish office. We
will have a list of tasks that need to be done - cleaning vents, light fixtures,
etc. - and you can set up a time to clean at your convenience. This would be a great opportunity for an individual and/or
family to support the parish through stewardship. With enough volunteers, this
task can be completed well before Advent begins!
PRE-K RELIGION IN
NEED OF VOLUNTEERS Have
you been wondering how you can give back to the Church, but don’t have a lot
of time to spare? We have an opportunity for you!
Pre-K Religion is in need of teachers that are Virtus certified.
We hope to begin offering classes in January and ending in early May,
2008. The time commitment is minimal and you will only “teach” every other
Sunday (during 9am mass) which amounts to only 10 classes that you would help
prepare. Please consider introducing the concepts of God and Bible stories into
the lives of our 3-5 year olds. Call
Candace Doepker at 859-572-0113 for more information.
PICK
UP YOUR SCHEDULE TODAY The new server & Eucharistic Minister schedules are
available and can be picked up today. They
will be on the back of the pews at the Rossford Ave. exit.
STEWARDSHIP FAIR
Please join us after all masses this weekend in McCrystal Hall
for the first Stewardship Fair. Come enjoy some refreshments and observe
the different organizations in our parish. See how your parish can serve
you or how you can help to serve others. See you there!
THE
ST. CATHERINE’S MEN’S RETREAT will be held on November 9th - 11th at
Marydale.
The Retreat Director will be Fr Charlie Smiech and his theme for the retreat
will be "The In-Dwelling of the Holy Spirit; a Life of Gratitude &
Generosity. Contact Brian Cox
781-3518, Bob Hassman 781-4666 or Kevin Johnson 441-8331 to make your
reservation.
"UNTIL DEATH DO US PART": A Story of Sacrifice, A Journey to the Priesthood. Seminarian Bob Rottgers got married, discovered his wife was a recovering addict, and after her death the sacrificial covenant of marriage led him to the sacrificial vocation of the priesthood. Come support Bob at St. Catherine’s Church on Sunday, November 11th at 7:00 pm. Music by Newport Central Catholic Choir. Questions call Terri 441-3438 or Sharon 441-1069.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
Interfaith Hospitality Network needs volunteers for our next
rotation at Christ Church on November 12th, 13th, &
14th. The sign-up
poster will be at the Rossford Avenue exit of church beginning Oct. 27th.
Please help bring the Light of Christ to a homeless family by sharing a little
of your time, love and caring. Call Lisa Walburg at 441-4964 for more
information or to volunteer.
BE
SURE TO READ YOUR OFFERTORY BROCHURE
This week, you will receive a brochure that is being mailed to you. This brochure not only contains information regarding the nature of the Parish Offertory Program, it also contains information on the current giving of our parishioners and the income and expense budget of our parish.
You are asked to carefully study the brochure and to note the financial giving recommendations that it contains. These recommendations are categorized by personal income so that they are fair to all.
Next weekend, during Mass, you will receive a commitment card and will be asked to indicate your weekly commitment. Regardless of whether you give monthly, quarterly, etc., please indicate the amount that your gifts represent on a weekly basis.
If you have not used envelopes or checks in the past, please begin to do so. It is very important for us to know how many members of our parish are actively involved in offering their financial support.
Please make a conscious effort to examine your spending priorities, see where our parish is currently placed within them and then, adjust your priorities as you deem necessary based on our obligations to support the work of the Lord.
COME FOLLOW ME
The priesthood is
a vocation…a call to bring people to Jesus, and Jesus to people.
Over twenty seminarians represent the next generation of priests for our
Diocese. Thank you to all who contributed to our special Collection for the
Seminarian Education Fund. Our
parish family generously donated $2840.00.
These gifts will provide funds for tuition, room and board, books, health
care and retreats for these men. Expenses
this year will total over $720,000. Your investment in a seminarian’s vocation is a prayerful
commitment to your Church and to your brothers and sisters in Christ.
If you haven’t made your gift, please drop your envelope into the
offertory basket today or next weekend, or drop it in the mail.
Continue to pray for our seminarians, for our priests, and for vocations
to the priesthood and religious life.
