  IN OUR PARISH

WE WELCOME TO OUR PARISH FAMILY   through baptism:  Samuel Gillen, son of Vincent & Christa. May God’s blessings always be with him.

CALLING ALL WHITE GLOVE GURUS   Come clean God's house!  Before the Advent season begins, we would like to get our church in spic and span condition.  If you would like to pitch in and help with this project, please call the parish office.  We will have a list of tasks that need to be done - cleaning vents, light fixtures, etc. - and you can set up a time to clean at your convenience.  This would be a great opportunity for an individual and/or family to support the parish through stewardship. With enough volunteers, this task can be completed well before Advent begins!

PRE-K RELIGION IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS    Have you been wondering how you can give back to the Church, but don't have a lot of time to spare? We have an opportunity for you!  Pre-K Religion is in need of teachers that are Virtus certified.  We hope to begin offering classes in January and ending in early May, 2008. The time commitment is minimal and you will only "teach" every other Sunday (during 9am mass) which amounts to only 10 classes that you would help prepare. Please consider introducing the concepts of God and Bible stories into the lives of our 3-5 year olds.  Call Candace Doepker at 859-572-0113 for more information.

OUR 3RD ANNUAL LOVE BOAT CELEBRATION     is fast approaching. If you haven't already sent in your $20 family donation or your volunteer form, please do so as soon as possible. Feel free to contact Shannon Walz (441-5999) or Ellen Wira (441-0374) if you have any questions.

PICK UP YOUR SCHEDULE TODAY     The new server & Eucharistic Minister schedules are available and can be picked up today.  They will be on the back of the pews at the Rossford Ave. exit.

STEWARDSHIP FAIR     Please join us after all masses on Nov. 3rd and 4th in McCrystal Hall for the first Stewardship Fair.  Come enjoy some refreshments and observe the different organizations in our parish.  See how your parish can serve you or how you can help to serve others.  See you there!

SCRIP       Thanks to those who continue to support the Scrip program.  For those of you who purchased Cold Spring Roadhouse certificates, they will be honored at Stables, the restaurant that took its place.  We still have some on hand, so if you are planning on trying out the new restaurant, stop by the office or after mass on the weekend and purchase a gift certificate or two!  Remember, this program is an easy way for our parish to earn money with no out of pocket expense to anyone!

THE WOMEN'S DINNER      for the women of the parish, is once again being hosted by the St. Catherine Men's Group on November 3rd, starting at 7:00pm!  This is truly a fine dining experience, complete with live entertainment and excellent food prepared by the men, and served by tuxedo-clad waiters.  For reservations, pick up a form in the parish office or contact Jon Guth, 859-653-4692 or jon.guth@fuse.net.  This invitation is open to ALL WOMEN age 21 and over!  Don't be shy!  It's a great time, and just for you!

THE ST. CATHERINE’S MEN'S RETREAT    will be held on November 9th - 11th at Marydale.
The Retreat Director will be Fr Charlie Smiech and his theme for the retreat will be "The In-Dwelling of the Holy Spirit; a Life of Gratitude & Generosity.  Contact Brian Cox 781-3518, Bob Hassman 781-4666 or Kevin Johnson 441-8331 to make your reservation.

"UNTIL DEATH DO US PART": A Story of Sacrifice, A Journey to the Priesthood.  Seminarian Bob Rottgers got married, discovered his wife was a recovering addict, and after her death the sacrificial covenant of marriage led him to the sacrificial vocation of the priesthood.  Come support Bob at St. Catherine's Church on Sunday, November 11th at 7:00 pm. Music by Newport Central Catholic Choir. Questions call Terri 441-3438 or Sharon 441-1069.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY    Interfaith Hospitality Network needs volunteers for our next rotation at Christ Church on November 12th, 13th, & 14th.  The sign-up poster will be at the Rossford Avenue exit of church beginning Oct. 27th. Please help bring the Light of Christ to a homeless family by sharing a little of your time, love and caring. Call Lisa Walburg at 441-4964 for more information or to volunteer.

OFFERTORY PROGRAM BEGINS

Next weekend, we will begin a program that asks everyone to reflect on the amount that they give to Offertory.  This review will ask several questions.  They are:

1.      Do I have a need to give or do I give only when there is a need?

2.      Do I understand that there is an obligation to provide regular financial support to the parish?

3.      Where does the parish fit relative to the other ways that I spend my money?

4.      How much do I give to the parish on a weekly basis?

5.      Is it too much, too little or just right?

6.      If I am not at the parish for one or more Sundays, do I make up the amount that I have not given?

7.      How much will I give each week during the coming year?

IN OUR DIOCESE

COME FOLLOW ME     Our seminarians have heeded Christ's call to "Come Follow Me", to represent Him in the midst of a world in need of healing and compassion, and to touch the lives, hearts, and souls of His people.  Our twenty-plus seminarians are a dedicated group of men, committed to knowing Christ and to serving His people.  However, they need our support.  Please pray for our seminarians, as they prepare for priestly service, and please pray that more men at various ages and stages of life might answer the call to follow after the heart of Jesus as our new generation of priests.  The annual cost of supporting a seminarian has risen, as has the number of Diocesan seminarians.  Expenses this year will amount to over $720,000. The Seminarian Education Collection provides funds for tuition, room and board, health care, and retreats for these men who are dedicating their lives to God and to service in our Diocese.  Please give generously.

HEALING MASS   Please join Fr. Roger Cooney for a Healing Mass at Mother of God Church in Covington, KY, on Friday, November 2nd. Praise and worship begin at 7:15 p.m. with mass beginning at 7:30 p.m. Our own St Catherine of Siena prayer group sponsors this event. For more information please call 859-341-5339.

NCC FALL FESTIVAL AND TURKEY DINNER   Delicious turkey dinners will be served from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4th at Newport Central Catholic.  Cost of an adult meal is $6.50 and a child’s meal is $5.00 - take out orders will also be available.  Football games will be on the big screen and there will be plenty of fun and exciting booths and activities for all age groups.
